Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study was to explore which aspects of school social work as perceived by social workers with experience in working with vulnerable youth consider important to take into account in promoting young people’s well- being. The study focused on three main questions: (1) What aspects do social workers consider to be particularly important for promoting the well- being of young people in school social work (2) How do social workers describe the aspects that influence their work in promoting the well- being of young people? The study is a qualitative interview study using semi-structured interviews as a method, conducted both digitally and in person. In the findings three main themes was revealed: Collaboration and resources, Relationships and security, and The importance of parents. The results highlighted the important that effective collaboration with external actors and within the school setting is essential for providing appropriate support to young people. A holistic approach fosters trust and ensures that young people can receive coordinated assistance. The study concludes that strong collaboration and mutual goals between school staff and external actors are critical for protecting young people's well-being. The findings contribute to practice by encouraging reflection on current approaches in school social work and suggesting pathways for further research in this area
