This study examines how social organizations, with a focus on a voluntary organization operating in one of Sweden's major cities, can develop entrepreneurship education, to support youths with mental illness, lack of role models or have fallen into crime. By promoting personal and entrepreneurial growth is the study based on a qualitative method with interviews and analyses from existing scientific theories about social entrepreneurship, positive youth development (PYD).
In connection with previous research on entrepreneurship education, key factors can be identified for successful education, such as founding, mentoring, adapted courses and inclusive environment.
The purpose with this research is to create a benefit for the organizations by contributing knowledge about strategies that can be used to reduce crime in a Swedish context. The study provides practical recommendations that organizations can implement for effective and sustainable programs that strengthen the participants' engagement, self confidence and entrepreneurial abilities. Improving these central factors doesn't only mean to provide new opportunities for youths, but also serves a tool for creating a positive social benefit.
