Titel:                Borta bra men hemma bäst?

Title:                Away is good but home is best – A study on distance work.

Research questions: How do workers experience the rapid change of work that has taken place as a result of Covid-19?

How is the discourse about teleworking in media affecting the perception of teleworking  during Covid-19?

Purpose:          The purpose of this study is to deepen the understanding of how teleworking affects workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study also intends to examine the media representation of telework linked to Covid-19. By doing this study, we can analyze whether this media presentation can be linked to how employees' attitudes to teleworking has been during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Method:           In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the authors used a quantitative method through a survey study that 185 number of people answered. A qualitative discourse analysis was also used to add another dimension to the subject.

Conclusion:     The findings was that the relationship between employer and employee has been significantly affected since the transition from office to telework. The respondents to this study felt that it is the communication between them and their closest manager that has decreased drastically. Furthermore, this leads to consequences such as a reduced internal and external motivation as well as a changed attitude which in turn leads to potentially changed behavior. In this study, we can also see that workers work more now at a distance than they did before, there is no perceived demarcation of when the work begins and ends. This can lead to stress and higher workload. This was something we could clearly see in the media discourse that has been around teleworking. So, as a conclusion, we see that there was a connection between the media discourse and the respondents' views on telework.
