    Abstract [sv]

    Genom tiderna har det funnits ett särskilt band mellan människan och sällskapsdjuret. Forskning tyder på att denna relation bär med sig åtskilliga fördelar för människan. I den här studien undersöks vad hästen och hunden upplevs ha för inverkan på människan. I studien intervjuades 15 kvinnor som har djurrelaterade yrken. Nio beskrev hundens inverkan och sex beskrev hästens. Materialet komprimerades tills fem typer av inverkan framträdde: att människan (1) får en nära vän, (2) får välbefinnande, (3) får kraft, (4) utvecklar empati och (5) utvecklar ansvar. Skillnader som förekom var att hästberättelser fokuserade på gemenskap med andra människor i stallet och hundberättelser på sällskap från hunden. I berättelserna framkom även negativa teman som författarna har valt att bortse från och istället fokuserat på det positiva. Studien kan indikera att hundar och hästar kan komplettera varandra då de har olika syften i människans liv.

    Abstract [en]

    The present paper is a phenomenological-hermeneutic study that reflects on the experiences

    regarding motives and meaning of five foster parents concerning their specific being of foster

    parent for so-called unaccompanied children in Sweden. Scandinavian research has shown

    that this particular category of foster family plays a significant role in social child- and youth

    care. However, what is yet to be explored within current research are foster parents’ own

    experiences of their role. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to reflect on foster

    parents’ experiences regarding the role and its direct value are two-fold: On the one hand, the

    study of the meanings of being in the role of foster parent has important emancipatory

    implications. On the other hand, the study also suggests certain ideas regarding how the

    number of foster parents might be extended.

    Method: From a lifeworld perspective, and an ontological-phenomenological approach

    inspired by Heidegger, I have reflected on unstructured interviews by

    applying van Manen's phenomenological-hermeneutic method for thematic

    analysis.

    Findings: The study presents four considerable themes of motives, describing why

    people choose to assume the role of foster parenting. All of the four themes

    are about the informants’ perceptions of the role as a means of creative

    innovation of themselves and their surroundings.

    The study also presents six considerable themes of meaning describing the

    informants’ experiences of being a foster parent while meeting non-foster

    parents. All six themes are about the informants’ experiences of being

    portrayed and hidden while meeting with others.

    Consequences: The study shows the plausible with how foster parents’ emotional role taking

    and responsibility are negatively influenced by fellow men’s freedoms.

    There is a potential need to examine the possibility of a legislation that

    could conceivably support foster family of unaccompanied minors as a

    long-term form of cohabitation.

    Abstract [sv]

    Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka vilka möjligheter har invandrarungdomar till att påverka och forma sitt eget liv. De två olika kulturella bakgrunder vilka dessa ungdomar har i sitt bagage kan nämligen många gånger leda till att det ställs oftast olika och motstridiga krav och förväntningar på dessa ungdomar. Krav och förväntningar till vilka invandrarungdomar försöker förtvivlad att anpassa sig för att få omgivningens bekräftelse och acceptans, även om detta skulle innebära att avsäga sig rätten till självbestämmande och självständighet. Undersökningen som redovisas i denna uppsats tyder på att bristen på acceptans begränsar invandrarungdomars frivalsmöjligheter. Eftersom deras sätt att vara har sitt ursprung i två olika kulturella bakgrunder där den ena vägrar att acceptera den andra fullt ut och det omvända, kan inte invandrarungdomar vara sig själva i varje sammanhang utan deras tanke- och agerande sätt är beroende av det med vem de interagerar.

    Abstract [en]

    This study aims to investigate how social services in a county in central Sweden work preventively against honor-related violence and oppression. The study aims to investigate the obstacles, challenges and preventive opportunities that social workers face in the work. Based on a qualitative data collection method in which six social secretaries were interviewed, the study has shown that the majority of respondents have a critical view towards that the problem of honor is cultured and investigated solely from cultural features. The study also showed that the respondents felt that there was a lack of competence in the social service regarding honor matters and emphasized that there is a great need for excellence in education on the subject and also that there was a great need for aimed education in fields that focus on honour related violence and oppression. It was found that respondents disagreed on whether the social service´s work is preventing honor-related violence and oppression. Some of the socialworkers considered that the social service`s work is preventing and some disagreed. The respondents also emphasized the importance of increased cooperation between the social services and the school in preventing the work against the violence.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper aims to examine how the construction of women with foreign background is visible in the Swedish debate on elder care and ethnicity. The subject is interesting with regard to the existing discriminating conceptions about ethnicity and how the living conditions of immigrant women are med scarce in the Swedish research field. It is also a relevant topic in light of the incipient crisis of the Swedish eldery care. The examining of how several axes of power interplay to construct the women is rendered possible through an intersectional perspective. This requires of the study to relate to the concept of category, and in this paper I have chosen an intercategorical approach. The research data consists of popular science journals between the years of 1998-2005. As I have chosen to combine content analysis with methodological principles of the intersectional perspective, the paper contains elements of both quantitative and qualitative method in the presentation of data. The result of the paper shows that gender has not been visible in a majority of the articles, meaning that people of foreign background have been discussed and reported on as a genderless collective. In the articles where gender has been visible, the study shows great differences in how the women are constructed depending on their age. In conclusion the discussion considers these constructions from an integration perspective.

    Abstract [en]

    In this study, intra- and inter-generational perspectives on youth participation are combined and compared. Young people were invited to participate as research partners in an interactive research circle and conducted a survey about participation with other young people as respondents. The discussion concerns how an interactive methodology contributes to the understanding of the concept of participation. It is suggested that political definitions of participation be amended to include having a sense of being recognised in a communicative context, taking responsibility and share with other people one’s experiences. This is based on the perspectives of young people.

    Children as Research partners in a Research circle2013Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    This presentation is about a Swedish study in which two groups of young people are actors, one group as research partners and another group as respondents in a study about young people’s participation. A model of the research circle, based on the Scandinavian study-circle tradition with democratic ideals, was created with young people invited as research partners in the research circle by academic researchers. The innovative design of the study included young people in the knowledge construction about youth participation. The young research partners formulated the research questions and implemented a ‘Youth survey’ among other students in secondary and upper secondary schools. Respondents in the survey are 100 students (15-18y) from mainstream schools and special schools for the Hard-of Hearing. The aim of the study was to define young people’s perspectives on participation in school-life. The young people in the study identify to have friends, being able to exert influence and understanding as central aspects of participation. They describe that the experience of participation depend on their opportunities to enact agency, responsibility, and control. Access to a free and supportive communicative context, with the agency to contribute to the interaction and decision-making is key when promoting young people’s participation in school. In this presentation, the innovative research model, as well as the report written by the adolescents in the research circle will be presented.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of the study is to examine how interaction between different activities can be organized.      The background of the essay highlights why collaboration is becoming common, and what it means for professionals involved in it. Collaboration is becoming common because the government insists on collaboration in practical work and that it is referred to in legal text. Collaboration is a comprehensive change to something unknown which could lead to fear of interaction within professionals who practice it.          The method used was qualitative and the empirical data were obtained through semi-structured interviews. Five respondents participated, three from one collaborative work and two from another. They are professionals in various professions involving humanitarian work in collaboration with each other. Results were analyzed through profession theory, collaboration theory, the user perspective, projects as labor as well as previous research.      The results show that there are various factors that inhibit and/or promote collaboration and conditions that may promote and/or inhibit collaborative success and efficiency. An example of a factor that can inhibit or promote interaction depending on how it is managed is the professional language, while management is a condition that promotes collaboration.

    Ett företags organisationskultur består av ett gemensamt värdesystem som har en meningsskapande funktion för de anställda i företaget som identifierar sig med organisationen. I en företagsfusion, där två eller flera företag går samman, har det visat sig vara svårt att förena olika organisationskulturer på grund av motstånd från de anställda. Tidigare forskning kring detta har till stor del fokuserat på de anställdas agerande i en fusion. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur anställdas meningsskapande i en fusion påverkades av deras identifikation med organisationen. Med en kvalitativ intervjustudie undersöktes hur anställda i fyra företag hade upplevt en fusion av företagen. Resultatet visade att även om förändringsprocessen hade upplevts negativt av samtliga deltagare varierade upplevelsen av det nya företaget och dess kultur utifrån deltagarnas tidigare bolagstillhörighet. Analysen visade att identifikationen med de tidigare organisationskulturerna påverkade de anställdas menings-skapande i situationen och därmed skapandet av en ny gemensam organisationskultur.

    Abstract [en]

    Aims: An increasing number of people interact with professionals within healthcare and social insurance offices during periods of sick leave due to musculoskeletal disorders. Knowledge of clients' perceptions of such contact is scarce. This study analysed clients' perceptions of theircontact with professionals within healthcare and social insurance offices. Methods: A cohort study was conducted in the municipality of Linköping, Sweden. Participants were all citizens who in 1985 were aged 25-34 years and had at least one new sick-leave spell due to back, neck, or shoulder diagnoses exceeding 28 days (n = 213). In 1996, 11 years after inclusion, a questionnaire about perception of contact withprofessionals, self-perceived health, and mental health was administered. Register data on sickness absence and disability pension from 1985-96 were also obtained. Results: Factor analysis indicated the existence of three dimensions of contact with professionals: supportive treatment, distant treatment, and empowering treatment. Women perceived their contact with both social insurance officers and healthcare professionals as more supportive than did the men. Respondents with disability pensions perceived their contact with social insurance officers as more supportive and empowering than persons without disability pensions. Respondents with mental health problems perceived their contact with both types ofprofessionals as more distant. Respondents with neck/shoulder diagnoses perceived their contact with healthcare professionals as more empowering than respondents with low back diagnoses. Conclusion: There was a relationship between clients' perceptions of contact withprofessionals and the sex, disability pension, diagnosis, and mental health of clients.
