Expressions of Identity and Self in Daily Life at a Group Home for Older Persons With Dementia in Japan2015In: Care Management Journals, ISSN 1521-0987, Vol. 16, no 2, p. 64-78Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

This study focuses on expressions of identity and self among residents at a group home for older persons with dementia in Japan—a study, which started as an explorative study on spirituality—and how residents make meaning of life. Although aware of stages of dementia illness and briefly commenting on these, the analysis does not make any specific point of it. This article views dementia from a sociocultural perspective and is based on participant observations at a group home with 19 residents, combined with interviews with 6 of them. Two central concepts for the study are discussed and drawn on in the analysis: ie, meaning home and family, and dementia and boke, senility. The study examines how the group home is ie and concludes that it is “home enough” in the sense that one’s identity and self are honored here. The old word boke represents a state in which one has “given up” any attempts to keep one’s mental health. This concept was used by some residents to mark the line between those who were “helpless” with boke and those who could manage by themselves without boke. Identities are analyzed in different terms: as profession, as feeling secure, as being physically close, in social interactions, and as being cared for properly also after death. The analysis of self and identity showed that contentment in life was expressed in various ways, as a whole or as a patchwork with light and dark colors, and that it is still in process. Here, the supportive but discreet scaffolding of staff seems to matter. Life is lived until death, and the farewell ceremonies are analyzed as existential closures for many—and for life finalized here at Ie, the group home.

Simplified sensor system for an intelligent robotic gripper2016Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This thesis presents an intelligent gripper (IPA gripper) with a consumer available pre-touch system that can be used for detecting and grasping an unknown object. The paper also proposes a method of using indirect force control with object movement as feedback, named OMFG (Object Motion Focused Grasping). Together with OMFG and the pre-touch system, the gripper can detect and prevent slippage. During the course of this master thesis an iterative design methodology has been used to develop a design. The design has been tested with quantitative and qualitative experiments to verify the quality of the IPA gripper and to validate the hypothesis of this master thesis.

Individanpassad undervisning: - Hur lärare arbetar utifrån elevers olika sätt att lära2008Independent thesis Basic level (university diploma), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Does Coaching Make a Difference: A Comparitative Study on How Students Perceive Their English Learning2011Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

In the 1830s, students at Oxford University began using the word coach as a slang expression for a tutor who carried a student through an exam (Coach, 2011). Nowadays, the word is seen as a metaphor for a person supporting another person to achieve an imagined goal (Johansson & Wahlund, 2009). Hilmarsson (2006) says that everyone acts as a coach from time to time, and Strandberg (2009) argues students in Sweden today want to be coached. However, it is hard to find schools where they claim they practice coaching. Because the word coach is ubiquitously used, many who today work with coaching are in fact inappropriately trained (Grant, 2010; Williams, 2008). Thus, by using a questionnaire as well as interviewing two students and a coach, I wanted to investigate whether coaching made any difference to how students perceived their English learning. 63 students and one coaching teacher participated in this study, where the findings demonstrated that there were other aspects which had a higher impact on students‟ perceptions of their English learning than the terminology used to describe the educational method practiced in their particular school.

Engelska för nybörjare?: Om nyanländas svårigheter att nå målen i engelska2011Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Towards a generic design method for reconfigurable manufacturing systems: Analysis and synthesis of current design methods and evaluation of supportive tools2017In: Journal of manufacturing systems, ISSN 0278-6125, E-ISSN 1878-6642, Vol. 42, p. 179-195Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

In  today’s global manufacturing environment, changes are inevitable and something that every manufacturer must respond to and take advantage of, whether it is in regards to technology changes, product changes, or changes in the manufacturing processes. The reconfigurable manufacturing system (RMS) meets this challenge through the ability to rapidly and efficiently change capacity and functionality, which is the reason why it has been widely labelled the manufacturing paradigm of the future. However, design of the RMS represents a significant challenge compared to the design of traditional manufacturing systems, as it should be designed for efficient production of multiple variants, as well as multiple product generations over its lifetime. Thus, critical decisions regarding the degree of scalability and convertibility of the system must be considered in the design phase, which affects the abilities to reconfigure the system in accordance with changes during its operating lifetime. However, in current research it is indicated that conventional manufacturing system design methods do not support the design of an RMS and that a systematic RMS design method is lacking, despite the fact that numerous contributions exist. Moreover, there is currently only limited evidence for the breakthrough of reconfigurability in industry. Therefore, the research presented in this paper aims at synthesizing current contributions into a generic method for RMS design. Initially, currently available design methods for RMS are reviewed, in terms of classifying and comparing their content, structure, and scope, which leads to a synthesis of the reviewed methods into a generic design method. In continuation of this, the paper includes a discussion of practical implications related to carrying out the design, including an identification of potential challenges and an assessment of which tools that can be applied to support the design. Conclusively, further areas for research are indicated, which provides valuable knowledge of how to develop and realize the benefits of reconfigurability in industry.

Reconfigurable Manufacturing - An Enabler for a Production System Portfolio Approach2016In: Procedia CIRP, 2016, Vol. 52, p. 139-144Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this paper is to investigate how the development of a strategically integrated product and production system portfolio could be enabled by the concept of reconfigurable manufacturing. In previous research, several critical challenges related to developing production system portfolios have been identified, but it has not been investigated how developing a reconfigurable manufacturing concept could aid some of these. Therefore, through a multiple case study, these critical challenges have been investigated in two companies that have recently developed reconfigurable manufacturing concepts for multiple variants and generations of products. The findings reveal that the companies need to deal with several challenges in order to enable a functioning RMS. By running the project separately from the NPD project and to include several product types and production sites the company overcome several challenges. (C) 2016 The Authors.
    Abstract [sv]

Multinational Corporate Strategy-making: Integrating International Business and Strategic Management2017In: The Responsive Global Organization: New Insightsfrom Global Strategy and International Business / [ed] Andersen, Torben J, Emerald Group Publishing Limited, 2017, 1, p. 13-33Chapter in book (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

This chapter contends that the international business (IB) and strategic management (SM) fields have many commonalities that should be considered in a turbulent globalized business context. IB studies refer to the need for local integration and local adaptation whereas empirics in SM pinpoint the complementary effects of central planning and decentralized decisionmaking. We present and synthesize these rather field specific perspectives and try to synthesize insights from both fields in an adaptive strategy-making model including the effects of autonomous subsidiary initiatives and intended mandates from corporate headquarters. The model considers local subsidiary actions of both operational and strategic nature and we argue that it may be futile to distinguish between these effects as incremental operational responses can cumulate into more substantial changes over time with dimensions of strategic adaptation. The model provides a foundation for further considerations about how to combine central intent and direction with decentralization and autonomous initiatives in the multinational corporation.

Undervisning i förskolan: En kvalitativ studie om fyra förskolechefers och fyra förskollärares uppfattning om undervisning i förskolan.2019Independent thesis Basic level (professional degree), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Translation and Psychometric Evaluation of Neff’s Self-Compassion Scale in a Swedish Sample2015Student paper other, 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The self-compassion conceptualization developed by Neff (2003a, b) and its corresponding 26-item inventory (SCS) has gained interest in recent years. SCS have proven good validity and reliability, but its suggested six-factor model cannot always be replicated. Recent studies have shown a more promising two-factor model for the SCS. The aim of this study was to test the structural validity of a translated Swedish SCS in university students (n = 464; 22% men). The results showed good construct validity, test-retest and internal reliability (ICC = .97; α = .86). Partial confirmatory factor analysis could not confirm the six-factor model but did support the two-factor model consisting of a positively worded (self-compassionate attitude) and a negatively worded (self-critical attitude) factor. The modified scale (SCS-Swe22) showed good reliability and construct validity (ICC = .96; α = .89). Despite promising results, additional work is required to secure the structural construct of SCS-Swe22.

    Abstract [en]

The examination has been performed at Bjerking AB, which is an architectural and engineering company. Bjerking AB has the ambition to be a member of Green Building.

The Green Building program developed in year 2005 by The European Commission, the program is an environmental system with the aim to improving energy efficiency within the sectors of non-residential buildings. The minimum requirements to participate the program are following: in new-built buildings the calculated energy consumption must be 25 % lower than the requirements in the BBR (Building regulations) and in refurbishment the reduction must be 25 % lower than before the optimization.

The aim of this study has been to examine and review the company Bjerking AB's energy efficiency work in the project of building the school/kindergarten S:ta Maria Alsike, where the goal is to get this building Green Building classed. A description of requirements to become a member of the Green Building has also accomplished in the thesis.

The methods performed in this study are literature review, searches on the Internet, studies on the project database for facts/values, calculation of energy consumption and interviews of members of the Green Building.

    The following issues have been dealt with in the report;

    -          Did the building in the project manage the requirement to achieve an   energy consumption that is 25% lower than the requirements in BBR?

    -          What technical measures/system was selected in the building?

    -          What kind of cooperation was the project based on?

    -          What is required for consultancy companies and real estate owners to become members of the Green Building?

The study of the project and calculation of estimated energy consumption in the building, give the result 47 kWh/m2, year. This is 60 % lower than the requirements of BBR. The Green Building requirement is that the building's energy consumption should be at least 25% less than the requirements in BBR. The building fulfills this requirement by a significant margin. It can therefore be concluded that the technical solutions carried out in the building are energy efficient. The project consisted of the cooperation shape “partnering ", which can be assumed to be a good form of cooperation in order to achieve an energy efficient building. The consultancy company Bjerking AB and the landlord Knivsta Pastorat has the potential to become members of Green Building, as Green Building Endorser respective Green Building Partner.

Keywords: energy efficiency, requirements of BBR, technical systems, cooperation, consultancy companies, real estate owners, estimated energy consumption, partnering, Green Building Partner, Green Building Endorser.

Kvinnan och tjänsten: En kritisk diskursanalys av det svenska rättsväsendets framställning av kvinnor som befinner sig i prostitution2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The representation of women in prostitution varies over time and space. This study aims to make visual how women in prostitution are being represented in Swedish judicial system today. The study uses a critical discourse analysis, inspired by Fairclough's three-dimensional model, and is based on a theoretical framework of reification theory, theory of respectability and previous research. The study analyzes 68 court verdicts, published in 2018 on the legal database Karnov Juridik, Kvinnifridspropositionen (Prop. 1997/98: 55) and an evaluation of the law's application and effect (SOU 2010: 49).

The study makes visible a two-part image of the woman as occasionally invisible and occasionally defined on the basis of prostitution. The study shows how an overall market discursive perspective through the verdicts relates to a focus on the purchase of sex, rather than the parties involved. The study shows that the focus on the woman in prostitution, which was widely criticized and which the law reform intended to shift towards the sex buyers, continues to stay on the women in prostitution.

Lustfylld matematik i förskoleklass2010Independent thesis Basic level (university diploma), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Inline Process Control – a concept study of efficient in-line process control and process adjustment with respect to product geometry2016In: Swedish Production Symposium 2016 SPS 2016, Lund, Sweden, 2016Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

All manufacturing processes have variation which may violate the fulfillment of assembly, functional, geometrical or esthetical requirements and difficulties to reach desired form in all areas. The cost for geometry defects rises downstream in the process chain. Therefore, it is vital to discover these defects as soon as they appear. Then adjustments can be done in the process without losing products or time. In order to find a solution for this, a project with the overall scope “development of an intelligent process control system” has been initiated. This project consists of five different work packages: Inline measurement, Process Evaluation, Corrective actions, Flexible tooling and demonstrator cell. These work packages address different areas which are necessary to fulfill the overall scope of the project. The system shall both be able to detect geometrical defects, propose adjustments and adjust simple process parameters. The results are demonstrated in a demo cell located at Chalmers University of Technology. In the demonstrator all the different areas have been verified in an industrial case study – assembly of GOR Volvo S80. Efficient offline programming for robot based measurement, efficient process evaluation based on case base reasoning (CBR) methodology, flexible fixtures and process adjustments based on corrective actions regarding in going part positioning.

    Abstract [en]

Commitment Issues? – A quantitative study about commitment in the relationship between the customer and the bank

    Research questions

What is the customer perception of commitment in the relationship with the bank and online bank? How should the bank act to influence customer commitment?

    Purpose

The study aims to explore the concept of commitment in the relationship between the customer and the bank. The paper also examines the influence of trust, distrust and online banking on customer commitment and gives direction for how Swedish banks should conduct their business in order to build commitment.

    Method

In order to explore customers perceived commitment, a quantitative study was carried out using an online survey which was conducted by 1 265 Swedish speaking respondents.

    Conclusion

The perceived commitment is influenced by the relationship with the bank. It is influenced by the manner of communication, personalization has proven effective to show customers that their needs and interests are prioritized. Customers generally have a higher level of commitment when they feel valued by the bank. Trust is the main pillar in the relationship between the bank and the customer, which is the foundation of commitment. Distrust on the other hand increases the likelihood that the customer will switch to an other bank branch. The commitment to financial services online is closely related to the commitment to the bank branch. A strong commitment to the bank creates a strong commitment to the online bank, and vice versa.

Vidareutveckling av friktionsbetingat förband för fixering av tankar2018Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Scania CV AB is one of the world’s leading companies within heavy vehicles. The company have a broad selection of trucks, which all are equipped with gas, or fuel tanks, depending on the fuel type of the truck, The trucks also contain air tanks that are used for braking and air suspension. The tanks are assembled with straps, where the rubber spacers constitutes a protective layer between the tank and the strap, to protect the tank from wear.

When installing different types of tanks there is a need for elements in the joint that increases the friction, compensates for manufacturing defects, prevents wear and permits electrical insulation. This has traditionally been done with rubber spacers. However, the rubber spacers increase the uncertainty of the actual preload of the joint, and movements in the joint usually make the spacers slip out of its position.

The purpose of the project is to generate knowledge on what characteristics and conditions that affects the performance of the friction joint, and to find a conceptual solution of the underlaying problem.

The following questions were created to be able to fulfill the purpose of the project: F1: Which underlying causes generate preload loss in the straps when assembling various tanks? F2: Which underlying causes makes rubber spacers tend to slip out of its position in various tank installations? F3: What operations need to be undertaken to prevent the preload loss in the straps and that the rubber spacers slip out of its position?

A case study and a literature review was conducted. The literature review was done to get an overall understanding of all of the different subjects that can be of relevance in this project. The data was collected from books, research papers and scientific articles. Data was also collected from interviews, technical reports, deviation reports, legal requirements, drawings, statistics from the field quality and observations in production.

The case study is based on a product development process where several different product development tools have been used. The case study also include material testing in terms of friction and settlement testing.

The project resulted in a concept in the shape of a rubber spacer which is based on the existing solution that Scania is using today. The solution consists of four components: geometries that prevent the rubber from slipping away known as flanges and geometries in the shape of tips of a fir tree, rounded short sides and a dimpled underside. The size of the spacer will vary because of the different types of tank and strap sizes.

The project also resulted in a design guideline, that will provide guidelines and guidance for further work and future design.

    Abstract [en]

    Research questions

    • What is the leaders view on motivation?
    • How do leaders work to motivate manufacturing employees?
    • Why do leaders work to motivate manufacturing employees?
    • Which factors do manufacturing employees perceive to be most motivating?

    Purpose

The purpose of the study is to describe work motivation in manufacturing companies from a leadership and employee perspective.

    Method

The study applies a mixed methods research - qualitative and quantitative method - in a multiple case study at two manufacturing companies. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a total of five respondents in leadership positions, and closed questionnaires were distributed to manufacturing employees in their respective companies. The interview results were analyzed thematically after coding, and the questionnaire results were analyzed with univariate analysis where variables were analyzed individually.

    Conclusion

The study shows that leaders in the manufacturing industry either see motivation as an inner drive or that it comes from job satisfaction. Leaders use a variety of methods to create work motivation for manufacturing employees. Among them only job rotation is used to counteract the negative effects of monotonous work. Resources are put into work motivation in order to increase the employees’ productivity, performance, effectiveness and ultimately to ensure the future of the company. The study also shows that according to manufacturing employees the most motivating factors are to see the results of a job well done, recognition for one’s work, the opportunity of personal growth and to have interesting and challenging enough tasks.

Procurement Policy: A Conceptual Design to Optimize Purchasing Policy and Safety Stocks2017Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

    Study question:

How can the process for article classification and procurement be improved in a new implementable inventory policy with the objective to reduce inventory costs.

    Purpose:

The purpose of this degree project is to design a procurement policy which helps to minimize the annual capital tied up in inventory.

    Method:

The procurement policy is created by a mixed method with a focus on the quantity inputs of secondary data and minor involvements of qualitative from primary data. Inventory management formulas from the theoretical framework constitute the conducted model. With the ground work from theory and inputs from interviews, the research approach has been deductive and followed the guidelines of Ali and Birley (1999). ABB Capacitors is the case study of this degree project which the model has been tested and verified upon.

    Conclusion:

The degree project resulted in procurement policy which includes a calculation model and inventory analysis which has shown success from the theoretical comparisons, and it indicates that the procurement policy is functioning as intended. Mathematical formulas are mere tools in a procurement policy, experience and know-how are two pieces which importance should not be neglected.Weaknesses of this policy concern inventory capacity because the calculations’ purpose is to minimize inventory cost by procuring to an economic optimum. There is a chance that physical structure allows fewer quantities than what is financially best. The policy is recommended for manufacturing industries.

A framework supporting the collaboration between the logistics- and the product development process2007Licentiate thesis, comprehensive summary (Other scientific)
    Abstract [en]

In the competitive environment of today’s global markets, the demands of customers are increasing. They expect to get the best product at the lowest price with immediate availability. Logistics, including transportation, inventory maintenance, order processing, purchasing, warehousing, materials handling, packaging, customer service standards, and product scheduling must continuously be developed to meet the challenges of the market. The globalization, with longer distances to customers and suppliers, and the progressing trend of outsourcing are examples of why the importance of logistics has increased over the last few years.

A considerable part of the final product cost is frozen during the early product development phases. In the early phases of the product development process, the cost of making design changes is low compared to making changes later in the product development process. The product development decisions made in the early phases of the product development process have considerable impact on future manufacturing and logistics activities as well.

The objective of this research project is to develop a framework supporting the collaboration between the logistics- and the product development process. To do this, it has been essential to analyze which parameters influence the efficiency of the logistics process and the interface between the logistics- and the product development process. Also, to investigate how the logistics department can be integrated earlier in the product development process has been of interest. This has been done through both a theoretical review and also through a number of case studies.

The result and conclusion of this project is a framework that gives support for what to focus on, how to collaborate, in which phases collaboration is meaningful, and which persons need to be involved in the different product development phases. Working as the framework suggests will, hopefully, give closer collaboration between the logistics- and the product development process than without this supportive framework. The expectation of the collaboration is an earlier integration of the logistics department in the product development process and through this influence and increase the efficiency of the logistics process.

Hon bryr sig liksom frivilligt: en fenomenologisk studie av tonåringars tillit gentemot sina styvmammor.2011Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 15 credits / 22,5 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Livet som missbrukare: Före detta missbrukande kvinnor berättar2009Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

This was a product development project performed for AB Gense, a cutlery manufacturer in Eskilstuna. Between different operations during production the work material needs to be cleaned in an alkaline ultrasonic cleaner. The work materials are placed in a cutlery basket where they are in contact with each other. Due to this not all work materials are clean enough after the cleaning which leads to extra work for the operators. The purpose of this project was to develop a new cutlery basket in order to achieve a higher number of clean work materials.

The main focus of the project was to develop a cutlery basket suitable for use in an ultrasonic cleaner. The project was based on the principals of the product development process. Interviews and observations were used in order to gather information about the problem. A number of concepts was developed and evaluated theoretically as well as practically together with the company.

One concept was selected for further development. Plastic was chosen as material for the concept and 3D-printing for manufacturing since only a few baskets were to be produced.

The result was a concept of a cutlery basket consisting of a base with removable supports for the work materials. The support comes in two different heights and has dents on the top in order to separate the work materials. A FEM-analysis was made in order to analyze the impact of the loads on the cutlery basket.

It is hard to estimate to which degree the purpose was fulfilled due to the fact that no working prototype has been produced and tested. However the cutlery basket will probably give better results since the work materials are separated during the cleaning process.

    Abstract [sv]

Everyday functioning in six year-old children born preterm: From a child perspective towards the child's perspective2017Doctoral thesis, comprehensive summary (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

The overall aim of the thesis was to explore everyday functioning in six year-old children born preterm, from the children’s perspectives and from their parents’ perspectives. The relation between everyday functioning and neonatal risk factors, behavioural characteristics was studied with descriptive and correlational statistics, ANOVA and multiple linear regression (I). Patterns of everyday functioning were explored in a cluster analysis following a person-oriented approach (II). In a mixed method approach, the children’s and their parents’ perceptions on children’s competence in everyday activities were explored with a pictorial instrument and analysed with descriptive statistics and qualitative content analysis (III). The children’s perceptions of meaningful everyday life situations were explored in a photo voice study, analysed with qualitative content analysis. In total, 144 children born preterm and 222 children born at term and their parents were involved.

The results indicated that from the parents’ perspective most children born preterm and full-term were perceived with strong everyday functioning featuring strong motor, process and communication skills, a positive interaction pattern and low levels of behaviour problems. As a group, the children born very preterm were perceived weaker in their everyday functioning than the full-term group but the pattern of performance skills, interaction and behaviour varied similar to that of children born full-term. Further, it was found that preterm birth was not the main predictor, instead hyperactivity had most influence on everyday functioning. Moreover, the children born preterm perceived themselves to be overall strong performers of everyday activities. They wanted to be active and do things and for that they wanted to have skills and significant others i.e. siblings, parents, friends and pets to interact with and to feel safe and loved. Further, the children born preterm expressed a will to develop, improve and gain new skills and to have more opportunities to do meaningful things.

In conclusion, the results in this thesis indicate that young children born preterm are able to reflect on their everyday functioning, and express needs and desires for their participation in meaningful everyday life situations. Moreover, preterm birth is not the sole predictor of everyday functioning more critical is the interaction of individual, behavioural and contextual factors.

Patterns of everyday functioning in preschool children born preterm and at term2017In: Research in Developmental Disabilities, ISSN 0891-4222, E-ISSN 1873-3379, Vol. 67, p. 82-93Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Background/Aim Children born preterm are at risk of neonatal complications but the long-term consequences for everyday functioning is not well known. The study aimed to identify patterns of everyday functioning in preschool children born preterm and at term in relation to perinatal data, neonatal risk factors, behaviour, and socioeconomic status. Registry data and data from parent rated questionnaires were collected for 331 children. Method A person-oriented approach with a cluster analysis was used. Results A seven cluster solution explained 65.91% of the variance. Most children (n = 232) showed patterns of strong everyday functioning. A minority of the children (n = 99), showed diverse patterns of weak everyday functioning. Perinatal characteristics, neonatal risk factors and socio-economics did not predict cluster group membership. Children born preterm were represented in all clusters. Conclusion, implications Most preschool children are perceived by their parents with strong everyday functioning despite being born preterm. However small groups of children are, for various reasons, perceived with weak functioning, but preterm birth is not the sole contributor to patterns of weak everyday functioning. More critical for all children's everyday functioning is probably the interaction between individual factors, behavioural factors and contextual factors. To gain a broader understanding of children's everyday functioning. Child Health Services need to systematically consider aspects of body function, activity and in addition participation and environmental aspects.

Granskning av arbetsmiljö och olycksstatistik: NCC: s byggproduktion2010Independent thesis Basic level (university diploma), 15 credits / 22,5 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

Swedish Classroom Communities Including Learners with Mild Intellectual Disabilities: Lower Secondary School2015In: Children and Young People in School and in Society / [ed] Sandberg Anette & Garpelin Anders, Nova Science Publishers, Inc., 2015, p. 111-133Chapter in book (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

According to the Salamanca declaration and framework (UNESCO, 1994) each country should strive to establish an inclusive school where all children can be together in the same school system, in regular classrooms with a customized education in community with others. Despite all children's right to a meaningful and equivalent teaching, categorizations of children with disabilities still occur and in Sweden there is a low degree of inclusion in regular school for pupils with intellectual disabilities (Education, 2012). For these reasons, it is of importance to increase knowledge about and investigate how classroom environments can be inclusive and provide a challenging and meaningful education for all. This chapter discusses inclusive education for children with mild intellectual disability (MID) and how teachers can work to enable learning for all pupils in their classroom. Examples will be given from field notes of different teaching sessions in lower secondary school in Sweden.

A & Wilder, J., Lund, 2017, 1, p. 151-167Chapter in book (Refereed)
