    Abstract [sv]

    Den här uppsatsen behandlar ämnet olaglig fildelning på internet. Intervjuer med fem svenska fildelare ligger till grund för en kvalitativ analys av deras egna handlingar. Analysen kretsar kring fem grundläggande teman som syftar till att förmedla en bild av individernas egen bild av fildelning och moraliska dilemman som kan uppstå vid denna handling. Teorin som har används beskriver främst handlingsramarna och samhället som fildelarna kan tänkas befinna sig i. Kopplingar görs mellan individernas handlingar och den övergripande samhällsteorin för att påvisa om de stämmer överränns. Olaglig fildelning är ett utbrett fenomen i Sverige. De fem fildelare som ingick i analysen verkar både ha förståelse för att fildelning är ett så utbrett fenomen, samtidigt som de i stor utsträckning känner att det behövs en lag som reglerar fenomenet. Skivbolagen målas upp som de stora och rika bovarna i frågan.

    Abstract [en]

    Software defined networking and network virtual-ization are widely considered promising techniques for reducing the complexity of network management in many contexts that require high Quality of Service (QoS) and the support for heterogeneous architectures. In this paper we address a network architecture, here called a virtualized SDN network, that combines the benefits of SDN and virtualization. To cope with the demand for efficiently sharing a platform among several services, here a resource management mechanism to reserve and control network resources among various services in the virtualized SDN networks is proposed. The mechanism is implemented on an SDN controller and a set of experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

    Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur pojkar och flickor bemöts av pedagoger på en förskola. Datainsamlingen har gjorts genom observationer av hur bemötandet sker vid olika situationer på tre stora avdelningar. Forskningsansatsen är kvalitativ. Datainsamlingen har även genomförts med hjälp av intervjuer med förskollärare. Undersökningen visar på en viss skillnad i hur förskollärarna bemöter barnet olika beroende på vilket kön barnet har. Förskollärarna var ofta inte medvetna om att de gör en skillnad i hur de bemöter barnen. Vidare är de översens om att jämställdhet är ett viktigt perspektiv i det pedagogiska arbetet. De anser att de måste bli medvetna om sina förutfattade meningar och sitt aggerande utifrån dessa. Det är först när man får kunskap och förståelse för genusbegreppet som det går att förändra de stereotypa könsrollerna.

    Syftet med denna undersökning är att ta reda på förskollärares uppfattningar om hur de formar gruppkonstellationer i förskolan. Utifrån forskningsfrågorna syftar undersökningen på att få svar på vilka varierade uppfattningar förskollärare har om didaktiska val som tillämpas och vilket perspektiv som beaktas i formandet av gruppkonstellationer. Utifrån en kvalitativ metod med en fenomenografisk ansats har åtta förskollärare från olika förskolor intervjuats. Resultatet visar att förskollärarna kunde koppla flera aspekter i förhållandet till att forma gruppkonstellationer i förskolan. Aspekter förskollärarna har uppfattningar om och som är av betydelse för att skapa främjande gruppkonstellationer har dels att göra med vilka didaktiska val som tillämpas, förutsättningar och förhållningssätt. Uppfattningar visar på vikten av ett flexibelt förhållningssätt utifrån ett barn- och vuxenperspektiv och att forma gruppkonstellationer utifrån barns behov och förutsättningar.

    Arbetet är en kvalitativ studie av det sociala internetnätverket Facebooks statusuppdateringar – de textstycken där en facebookanvändare skriftledes kan meddela sig till sina kontakter i det gemensamma nyhetsflödet. Studien undersöker huruvida det finns återkommande kategorier av statusuppdateringar och vilka dessa i så fall är, vilket språk som används i uppdateringarna samt hur användarens syfte med statusuppdateringen synliggörs. Materialet utgörs av fyra informanters statusuppdateringar under en sammanhängande begränsad tidsperiod. Studien visar att det finns återkommande kategorier av innehållsteman samt återkommande språkliga drag i statusuppdateringarna. Språket som används i statusuppdateringar på Facebook är mångfacetterat – stundom stavningsmässigt och grammatiskt korrekt, stundom talspråkligt och normutmanande och varierar givetvis informanterna emellan. Vissa informanter uttrycker sig mycket kommunikationsmedvetet medan andra har ett mer prosaiskt betonat språk. De olika kategorierna och kombinationer av dessa nyttjas för att nå olika syften. Varje kategori kan ses som ett redskap för att försätta läsaren i en viss sinnesstämning alternativt dela med sig av sin egen. Kreativitet och lekfullhet med normer används exempelvis som ett verktyg för att skapa en utstickande statusuppdatering då detta är syftet.

    Arbetet är en kvalitativ litteraturstudie som undersöker hur den klassiska svenska arbetarlitteraturen behandlas i gymnasieskolans läroböcker. Materialet utgörs av textavsnitten om arbetarförfattare i två olika läroböcker som används i litteraturundervisningen på gymnasiet varav den ena textnivå- och stilmässigt verkar rikta sig till elever som befinner sig på en något högre kunskapsmässig nivå. Studien visar  att de båda läroböckerna har varierande sätt att framställa genren arbetarlitteratur och särskilt särskiljande är det språk och den pedagogiska stil läroboksförfattarna använder. Flera gemensamma beröringspunkter förekommer, såsom exempelvis den rika användningen av citat vilket verkar vara ett pedagogiskt grepp som syftar till att fånga kontentan av ett visst arbetarverk eller författarskap. Författarurvalet är likartat i de båda läroböckerna, och högst sannolikt inspirerat av den rådande kanon som presenteras i vedertagna litteraturhistorieskrivningar vilka utgörs av bl a läroböcker för högre eftergymnasiala studier. Läroboksförfattarna har, vad gäller författarurvalet, gett tydligt företräde åt genrens giganter. Fokus på det enskilda verket respektive arbetarförfattaren själv varierar mellan de två läroböckerna. Varken den enskilde arbetarförfattarens stil eller litteraturhistoriska sammanhang diskuteras i någon stor utsträckning i någon av läroböckerna. Som nämnt är det språkliga och stilistiska vad som främst skiljer de två analyserade läroböckerna åt. Den lärobok vars målgrupp verkar vara elever på ett högre kunskapsplan ger eleven åtskilliga nivåer att läsa sig igenom; fler detaljer och fler till reflektion uppmanande resonemang medan den andra läroboken förblir vid textens översta ytskikt. Denna visar främst i sitt enkla, rättframma språk, vilket inte tycks utmana en genomsnittligt läsbegåvad elev nämnvärt; syftet med lärobokstexten är att under okomplicerade förhållanden förse eleven med fakta.  Den mer teoretiska läroboken uppmanar genom den fyllighet som karaktäriserar texten, dess kunskapsutmanande vokabulär samt genom sin diskuterande, analyserande ton eleven till fördjupat tillägnande av arbetarlitteratur

    Abstract [en]

    Objective: To investigate the factors related to self-perceived work ability in patients with chronic whiplash-associated disorder grades II-III. Design: Cross-sectional analysis. Patients: A total of 166 working age patients with chronic whiplash-associated disorder. Methods: A comprehensive survey collected data on work ability (using the Work Ability Index); demographic, psychosocial, personal, work- and condition-related factors. Forward, stepwise regression modelling was used to assess the factors related to work ability. Results: The proportion of patients in each work ability category were as follows: poor (12.7%); moderate (39.8%); good (38.5%); excellent (9%). Seven factors explained 65% (adjusted R2= 0.65, p < 0.01) of the variance in work ability. In descending order of strength of association, these factors are: greater neck disability due to pain; reduced self-rated health status and health-related quality of life; increased frequency of concentration problems; poor workplace satisfaction; lower self-efficacy for performing daily tasks; and greater work-related stress. Conclusion: Condition-specific and psychosocial factors are associated with self-perceived work ability of individuals with chronic whiplash-associated disorder.

    Abstract [sv]

    AN är en sjukdom som drabbar många unga kvinnor idag. Sjukdomen innebär ett långt förlopp och karakteriseras av biologiska, psykiska och sociala besvär. Syftet med studien är att lyfta fram före detta AN  patienters upplevelse av sjukdomsförloppet och de bidragande faktorerna till återhämtningen. 11 semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes och analyserades och resultatet tyder på att deltagarna delar likande livshistorier om både insjuknandet och faktorer till återhämtning. Delar av resultatet tyder på att deltagarna hittat motivation i relationer för bli fri från ätstörningen. Vidare forskningen inom detta område borde belysa och fördjupas i den attityd mot att sjukdomen är kronisk och även undersöka individers upplevda likgiltighet mot att kunna leva ett liv helt utan AN, då resonemanget att det inte går att bli helt återställd ofta uttrycks.

    Sammanfattning

    Det här examensarbetet har genomförts på DHL Freight AB i Eskilstuna som transporterar gods över hela Sverige. Där målsättningen varit att analysera den nuvarande sorteringsprocessen, identifiera bristerna runt sorteringsprocesserna och därefter presentera eventuella förbättringsförlag.

    De metoder som har använts för att utföra examensarbetet är följande. Resultatet grundar sig på den information som har införskaffats via observationer och intervjuer med personalen som är delaktiga i sorteringsprocessen samt olika litteraturstudier.

    De mest tongivande teorierna som examensarbetet utgått från och som författaren har genomgående haft i åtanke är logistik, distribution, Lean Produktion, kvalitet och processer.

    Analysen som utfördes resulterade i att ett antal brister som finns i sorteringsprocessen som kunde identifieras. De här bristerna bidrog till att komplikationer uppstod vid sorteringen av gods på DHL Freight AB. Några exempel på brister som identifierats är att efter godset har hanterats sker inte någon kvalitetssäkring innan godset lämnar terminalen. Dessutom är de resurser som finns idag inte så uppdaterade arbetssätten har inte ändrats eller förbättras på länge. Som till exempel förenkling av kodboken och en mycket tydligare platsning i zonerna så att inte godset ställs på fel plats. Ytterligare brister som kunde identifieras var att den mänskliga faktorn som spelar en stor roll i sorteringen av gods. Att man inte är tillräckligt uppmärksam när man kodar, hanterar eller platsar godset. Man är inte motiverad eller engagerad till att godset ska gå rätt till 100 procent eller så handlar det om att metoderna de använder för att hantera godset är otillräckliga.

    De förbättringsförslag som presenteras i den här rapporten innefattar förändringar som kan leda till att sorteringsprocessen på DHL Freight AB, men även i hela försörjningskedjan, blir mer kontrollerad och exakt jämfört med dagens situation. Förutom en bättre sorterings statistik som uppstår på DHL Freight AB vid sortering av gods, kan dessa förändringar även bidra till kostnadsbesparingar i form av energikostnader och personalkostnader hos DHL Freight i Eskilstuna

    Abstract [en]

    Mobile buildings offer a flexible supply of buildings as an alternative to permanent expansion or while the existing facilities being renovated or rebuilt. This flexible option is used, however in a rather small scale in the market. Thus, to increase consumption of mobile buildings, there is a need for market research that will contribute to find the factors that customer value.

    The purpose of research is to investigate customer values when it leases and/or uses temporary buildings, and possibly encourage new elements that do not exist in the market range yet.

    To obtain the valuation factors have been implemented a literature survey and 13 personal interviews were conducted. Interviews took place with people who use these buildings and those who entered a contract to rent these buildings. The study objects are offices, schools and kindergartens.

    Abstract [en]

    Turbulence in the world economy with following liquidity problem in enterprises has lead to negative consequences for banks that creates a need for effective credit risk management. To prevent significant credit losses, banks tries constantly to minimize their risks in credit granting through identifying pitfalls.

    The purpose is to investigate the factors that contribute to the credit losses and illustrate how Nordea can minimize risks in credit granting.

    Data were gathered from the literature review and a case study. The object of study is the Swedish Business Bank Nordea where several credit managers has been interviewed at the regional level. To obtain a volume of credit development in Sweden, gathered the credit granting statistics of the source of Nordea Hypotek AB.

    According to the theory credit losses are depending on direct and indirect factors. While direct factors can be affected by a credit analyst, indirect factors are outside of his influence. It can be stated that Nordea has been succeed in minimizing of risks at the considerable degree, with reservation for some improvements, and that some factors that cause losses the bank manage to keep under control.

    Bank´s fundamental strategy in risk management is to use reasonable credit granting. All of respondents have stressed the importance of thorough inquiry on new credit application and frequent following up suspicions of payment difficulties with existing borrowers. Through these routines can bank capture problematic business transactions and prevent appearance of credit losses.

    Approaching Curriculum Resources: Examining the potential of textbooks and teacher guides to support mathematics learning and teaching2014Licentiate thesis, comprehensive summary (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    The driving forces of conducting the two studies presented in this thesis are: the strong position of curriculum resources in the mathematics classroom in general; teachers’ faith in curriculum resources to convey the intentions and goals of mathematics education; and the expected benefits to mathematics education through expanding the knowledge base of research in the area of curriculum resources in general, and teacher guides in particular. This thesis builds upon two studies conducted in Sweden. The first is a study on how teachers use teacher guides. The results of this study could be seen as one piece in the building of a theoretical understanding of how teachers use their tools in planning and enacting teaching. The data for Study I were collected through semi-structured interviews with five early-years mathematics teachers. In advance, the teachers were asked to copy the pages from the teacher guide they had used the week before the interview. The analysis of the interviews shows that less experienced teachers desire a wider scope of content in their teacher guide. More experienced teachers desire support from teaching activities, in the design of teaching in classroom practice. Another interesting result was that all teachers in our study, regardless of prior experience, knowledge, beliefs, etc., want the teacher guide to offer connections between theory and practice. The second study investigates what content is represented in Swedish textbooks. The results of this study map the terrain over how the most commonly used textbooks in Sweden construct the topic of proportion and proportional reasoning. My choice of textbooks is based on a questionnaire among all compulsory school mathematics teachers in the sixth largest municipality in Sweden, revealing that two curriculum resources together covered 97% of the classrooms in Grades 7-9. The study provides insights into the strengths and weaknesses in the presented structure regarding proportional reasoning in the most commonly used textbooks in Swedish lower secondary school. Teachers could use these insights when making decisions about how to use their textbooks, and to possibly reconsider how to organize the enactment of the national curriculum in order to develop deep understanding. The analyses could provide authors of teacher guides and textbooks with valuable information to consider regarding structure and design.

    Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka hur matematiklärarstudenter ska introducera problemlösning för sina elever och vad som påverkar studenternas tolkningar av problem. Jag har även undersökt vilka kompetenser studenterna anser att en matematiklärare behöver ha för att genomföra en framgångsrik undervisning i matematik genom problemlösning. I undersökningen diskuterar tre grupper med matematiklärarstudenter hur de ska introducera ett problem för eleverna och vilka komprtenser de anser att en matematiklärare behöver ha för att undervisa i matematik genom problemlösning. Resultaten visar att studenterna har olika strategier för att introducera problemlösning för eleverna och att studenternas tolkningar av problemet påverkar introduktionen. Studenterna gör olika tolkningar av problemet beroende av i vilken kontext de tolkar problemet. De har ingen enhetlig bild av vilka kompetenser som krävs av en matematiklärare, för att genomföra en undervisning som svarar mot skolverkets mål.

    The Potential of Dominating Mathematics Textbooks in Sweden to Support the Learning and Teaching of Proportional ReasoningManuscript (preprint) (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    Proportional reasoning is a cornerstone in compulsory mathematics education. It is considered to be one of the most challenging topics to tech and learn. This article discusses the potential of two Swedish textbooks to support the teaching and learning of proportion and proportional reasoning. Since curricular resources, such as textbooks are teachers’ most important tools for planning and enacting lessons; the support they offer has great impact on how teaching and learning will be designed. To analyze the textbooks examined here, I use a framework developed by Shield and Dole, based on research. The study provides insights of the strengths and weaknesses in the presented structure regarding proportional reasoning in the most commonly used textbooks in Swedish lower secondary school. Teachers could use these insights, when making decisions about how to use their textbooks. This study is likely to map the terrain of Sweden, due to the textbooks widespread use.

    When teacher guides speak “past” the teacher: Two Swedish mathematics teacher guides2017Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    In this paper we report on how two Swedish mathematics teacher guides communicate with teachers. We have analysed the guides from the theoretical stance that curriculum resources can support teachers’ pedagogical design capacity, i.e. support them to find productive ways to adapt curriculum resources. To investigate the guides we studied the “voice” by the use of language, focusing on personal pronouns and imperatives. Our analysis shows that both guides often speak “through” the teacher with narratives and scripted instructions, rather than “to” the teacher about strengths and weaknesses with different teaching design considerations. The results also show that in addition to speaking “to” or “through” guides can speak “past” the teacher, positioning her as an observer of the interaction between students and textbooks. This language construction is unexpected and may thus be seen as expanding the framework for investigating the “voice” of teacher guides.

    Abstract [en]

    In this study we investigate how teachers talk about their use of mathematics teacher guides for support and inspiration, with the aim of broadening the knowledge of how teachers use these guides in and for teaching. Our second aim is to test whether guidelines for designing educative curriculum material can serve as an analytical tool. The results show that less experienced teachers use a wider scope of content in the teacher guide whereas more experienced teachers use teaching activities1 and support for the design of teaching. Common for all teachers, despite level of experience, is that they want the teacher guide to provide connections between theory and practice. The analytical tool served well for analysing interviews, helping us pay attention to the features of the content discussed.

    Syftet med studien är att ta reda på vilket förhållningssätt några pedagoger har till mångkulturalitet. Vi har genomfört en kvalitativ studie på två förskolor i ett mångkulturellt område. För att ta reda på vilket förhållningssätt några pedagoger har till mångkulturlitet har vi valt att genomfört fyra observationer och fyra intervjuer med pedagoger i förskolan. Det visade sig att de svenska normerna är ständigt närvarande. Det finns ett dilemma med att synliggöra barnens kulturtillhörigheter, nämligen att barnen blir representanter för en kultur snarare en unik individ. Det framkom också att språket är en viktig del i utvecklandet av en kulturidentitet. Det är därför viktigt att barnen utvecklar sina modersmål för att på så vis utveckla flera kulturtillhörigheter men också för att kunna tillägna sig det svenska språket.

    Abstract [en]

    Sexuality and reproduction are two central parts of human life and they are integrated into our personalities. It is therefore important to create a good foundation for sexual health and wellbeing from an early age. To see adolescents as “ready to act-individuals” and to make them more involved in open dialog discussions contributes to extended possibilities for creating and sustaining a healthy lifestyle. The school is therefore considered as an important arena for health promoting and preventive actions where most adolescents can be reached. An obligated nine years school based education was implemented in China 1986, and school based Sex education became obligated in 2002.

     

    The study aimed to examine Chinese university student’s perceptions of Sexeducation for adolescents (10-19 years) in China and needs for changes and ongoing tendencies of development. Qualitative studies were conducted with three Chinese university students and contact was taken with a key person in China whom translated material for this study alone.

     

    The result showed various constructions of school based Sexeducation in China and that its implementation and construction needs more support. It also showed a need for the development of influence and participation in the school based Sexeducation. A need for creating an improved communication between teachers and students was also expressed and a more salutogenic approach needs to be developed.

     

    Through collaboration with other countries, for example Sweden, can today’s open-minded process of change benefit even more.

    Abstract [en]

    Sexuality is one of the most fundamental values of life as it affects our behaviors, thoughts and emotions. Young people are an especially essential group for promoting sexual health as it is during adolescents the base for our sexuality is created. The aim of this study was to examine Chinese male and female medical university student’s knowledge and ideas of sexual behavior at Chongqing Medical University in Chongqing, China. An explorative quantitative survey study was conducted at place in Chongqing. The survey study’s result showed that ideas of sexual behavior were seem to be permissive and love-based, and also bi- and homosexuality to be mainly acceptable. The Internet, books and friends were seemed as important sources for knowledge whereas few believed to have received adequate knowledge from school. It was also seemed to be a major lack of knowledge regarding STD’s and how to protect yourself as “safe periods” was believed to be an important contraceptive method. The relationship between contraception and the protection against STD seems to be obscure.

    The Black Pearl: An Autonomous Underwater Vehicle2013Report (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    The Black Pearl is a custom made autonomous underwater vehicle developed at Mälardalen University, Sweden. It is built in a modular fashion, including its mechanics, electronics and software. After a successful participation at the RoboSub competition in 2012 and winning the prize for best craftsmanship, this year we made minor improvements to the hardware, while the focus of the robot's evolution shifted to the software part. In this paper we give an overview of how the Black Pearl is built, both from the hardware and software point of view.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper presents GIMME2, an embedded stereovision system, designed to be compact, power efficient, cost effective, and high performing in the area of image processing. GIMME2 features two 10 megapixel image sensors and a Xilinx Zynq, which combines FPGA-fabric with a dual-core ARM CPU on a single chip. This enables GIMME2 to process video-rate megapixel image streams at real-time, exploiting the benefits of heterogeneous processing.

    This paper presents GIMME (General Image Multiview Manipulation Engine), a highly flexible reconfigurable stand-alone mobile two-camera vision platform with stereo-vision capability. GIMME relies on reconfigurable hardware (FPGA) to perform application-specific low to medium-level image-processing at video rate. The Qseven-extension enables additional processing power. Thanks to its compact design, low power consumption and standardized interfaces (power and communication), GIMME is an ideal vision platform for autonomous and mobile robot applications.

    Healthy lifestyles are an important condition for creating a positive health and dietary habits, physical activity and stress are factors that affect health. As a result of recent changes in society people's lifestyles have changes through unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and stress has increased. Changing lifestyles have affected public health, and to invest in these areas in public health work can provide significant health benefits. Västmanland County Council operates a project to promote healthy behavior. The project includes "Kom i form gruppen" which is a group that focuses on nutrition, physical activity and stress. The aim was to investigate participants' experiences of participation in "Kom i form gruppen" and if the participation has affected their lifestyles. To answer the purpose, a qualitative approach with interviews used. The result shows that the content of the meetings has not identified any new knowledge. Participation has provided awareness and motivation and appreciation of food habits have been affected varied between participants. The participants' exercise habits have been affected by regular exercise occasions and everyday physical activity. Effect of stress has not been made, but they try to think about to rush less. Lack of time and stress, however, perceived as an impediment to healthy living.

    Background: When a parent loses its child life will change drastically and assume other conditions. The loss of a child affects the whole human existence, the grief can be very intense as well as in-depth and find expression both on an emotional, physical, mental and spiritual level. Aim: The aim is to describe parents’ experiences of losing a child to illness. Method: Graneheim and Lundmans manifest content analysis method was used to the method based on qualitative raw material in forms of three Swedish autobiographies. Results: The analysis resulted in three categories "interactions in existential chaos", "the unimaginable has happened" and "to live with the grief". The categories describe different stages in the loss of a child, from the contact with health professionals to fighting their way through and live with the grief following the death of their child. Conclusion: The interaction parent’s get from health professionals have big impact on the experience of losing their child. It is not possible to escape from the grief that manifests when you lose a child, the grief has to be processed during a long time but this is necessary for the ability to get through the grief and to finally get on with life.

    Den här studiens syfte var att få reda på hurdant språk lärare i år 1-3 samt förskolelärare anser ska användas i matematikundervisningen. Studien fokuserar  också på hur det formella matematiskspråket används. Alltför ofta används ett vardagligt språk i matematiken istället för att använda formella begrepp. Vi ville genom denna studie få reda på lärares och förskolelärares syn på språket i matematikundervisningen. För att få in empiriskt material genomfördes en enkätundersökning som var både kvantitativ och kvalitativ. 51 respondenter medverkade i enkätundersökningen som handlade om hur de uppfattade vissa påståenden som handlade om användandet av språket i matematiken. Enkäterna genomfördes vid åtta olika skolor. I studien jämfördes lärarnas och förskolelärarnas resultat mot varandra, detta för att se om det fanns någon skillnad i deras reflektioner om språket. Resultatet visar på att det fanns en viss skillnad i tankesättet mellan lärarna och förskolelärarna. Av resultatet såg vi att pedagogerna tyckte att ett formellt matematiskt språk är viktigt i matematikundervisningen.

    The objective of this study was to describe measures and outcomes of vocational rehabilitation at six local national insurance offices in the same county in Sweden. Data were collected from mainframe registers and other records at each office. There were great differences in sickness allowance, incapacity rate, selected rehabilitation measures and resuming work. The percentage of sick-listed people who received any rehabilitation measure differed from 1.2 to 8.7%. The gender distribution for the study population was 36% men and 64% women and the predominant diagnosis was musculoskeletal pain conditions, which was followed by psychiatric disorders. Outcomes varied from office B, which reported 58% fully fit after completed planned rehabilitation, to office C, which reported only 24% fully fit. The clear differences in outcome between the offices indicate that various rehabilitation measures differ in effectiveness. The rehabilitation measure 'investigation of working ability' was not linked to any great proportion of people resuming work, but showed a greater correspondence to full disability pension. There were also large differences in social and demographic factors in the different municipalities. The effect of these on the rehabilitation process requires further investigation.

    Many long-term sick-listed individuals move from vocational rehabilitation to pension, rather than reaching the goal of return to work. There is thus reason to consider whether rehabilitation resources are being used optimally. Individuals receiving disability pensions are consuming financial and personnel resources at the insurance offices and also consume a large amount of health care. The general objective of the study was to evaluate the proportion of individuals granted vocational rehabilitation but then obtaining temporary or permanent disability pensions. All persons receiving any kind of rehabilitation and attending one of six local national insurance offices in a county in Sweden in 1998 and 1999 were studied. A 2-year follow-up was carried out to assess changes in status among those who had received temporary disability pensions. Of all individuals receiving rehabilitation, 46.2% ended up with a disability pension allowance. In addition, a large portion of the temporary disability pensions was transformed to permanent disability pensions within 2 years. For clients with a temporary disability pension, the rate of resuming work was close to nil. Among rehabilitation measures, investigation showed the lowest figures of work resumption while job training showed the best outcome in this respect. The study concluded that a large portion of the financial and personnel resources allocated by the national insurance offices to rehabilitation resulted in disability pensions.

    Physical inactivity is a public health problem and lead to bad health in the population. Healthcare in Västmanland has started the process of prescribing physical activity (OFA) to improvehealth. Sport is an important participant in prescribed physical activity and the sportseducational association, SISU Idrottsutbildarna, is organizing activity leadership training.They educate activity leaders in accepting patient’s prescribed physical activity. The aim ofthe thesis was to study the experiences of Activity Leaders in Västmanland have about theactivity leaders training and the perceptions they have about prescribed physical activity. Toanswer the thesis, six qualitative interviews carried out and analyzed with the help ofconcentration of the contents. The Activity Leaders’ experiences of the education aregenerally positive and their perceptions of prescribed physical activity vary. They believe thatthe activity leadership training can be improved and they are critical of that works are notstarted in a desirable manner and that health care does not prescribe group activities in agreater extent. Activity Leaders feel that the exchange of experiences, greater disseminationof information and health care employees' attitudes to OFA are important elements to improvethe process of prescribed physical activity.     Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka synen på kunskap, skolplikt och närvaro hos lärare och skolledare i grundsärskolan. Genom intervjuer på 6 olika skolor frågade vi 15 informanter om deras syn på skolplikt för elever i grundsärskolan och hur de ser på kunskapsinlärning och den nya läroplanen. Intervjuerna analyserades med utgångspunkt från studiens frågeställningar och likheter och skillnader söktes i datamaterialet. Resultatet av vår analys var temana:

    Elevernas närvaro, Lärares och skolledares syn på kunskap, Lärares och skolledares syn på skolplikt och närvaro och Lärares och skolledares syn på kunskap kopplat till deras syn på närvaro/frånvaro. Resultatet visade att alla informanterna var överens om att skolplikten är självklar och att grundsärskolan har blivit mer inriktad på kunskapsinlärning. Vi ville även undersöka hur rutiner kring frånvaroanmälan sköttes och hur en eventuell hög frånvaro följdes upp på de skolor vi besökte. Det resultat vi fick fram visade att det fanns många olika rutiner kring rapportering av frånvaro. Några av skolorna skötte sin rapportering via digitala system, andra skolor använde papper och penna. Alla skolor följde upp frånvaron i form av möte med vårdnadshavaren och elevhälsan och i de fall det ansågs behövas även med socialtjänsten. Vår studie visar att de flesta informanterna var av uppfattningen att det finns mycket kvar att arbeta med när det gäller synen på kunskap och inlärning hos omgivningen då informanterna som själva arbetar i grundsärskolan såg kunskap och inlärning som en självklarhet men de upplevde att omgivningen såg på grundsärskolan som mer omsorgsinriktad

    Syftet med vår studie är att studera hur förskollärare uppfattar lärmiljöns betydelse för den fria leken samt hur förskollärare aktivt arbetar med lärmiljön för att främja den fria leken. Vi samlade in det empiriska underlaget genom åtta kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer med frågor utformade till förskollärare. Resultatet visar en samstämmig bild hos informanterna där lärmiljön framstår som betydelsefull i förhållande till barns fria lek, resultatet visar även på att en väl genomtänkt lärmiljö där fokus ligger på barns intressen främjar barns fria lek och därigenom barns utveckling och lärande.

    OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate possible differences between local social insurance offices with regard to their selection of clients for vocational rehabilitation. A further aim was to determine whether social insurance officers from different local insurance offices have uniform attitudes regarding professional practice in their application of the insurance system. METHODS: A register-based investigation of 815 vocational rehabilitees served by 6 local social insurance offices in a Swedish county. The study was supplemented with a questionnaire to 30 officers about attitudes to social insurance. RESULTS: The office with the lowest rate of sick-listing periods exceeding one year, and a high frequency of employment training, showed the highest degree of work resumption and the lowest pension rate after vocational rehabilitation. There were wide differences in attitude among the local social insurance officers regarding professional practice in their application of the system. CONCLUSION: Intra-county differences occur in handling people on sick-leave who undergo vocational rehabilitation. The local social insurance offices with the highest and lowest outcome rates of work resumption and disability pension, respectively, select clients for vocational rehabilitation from different categories of cases. Social insurance officers from different local offices differ in their attitudes towards the social insurance system and its clients.

    Abstract [en]

    A short-term evaluation of vocational rehabilitation (VR) may give conclusions not automatically applicable over a longer term. The present study follows up alterations in work resumption or in social insurance benefits from the time of completed VR and during the following two years. AIM: The primary objective was to evaluate work resumption among previous sick-leavers granted vocational rehabilitation. The aim of the follow-up was to assess the stability of the outcome of VR over time and to analyse factors of importance for clients that remained at work. METHOD: A register investigation was based on 815 cases where the clients had taken part in vocational rehabilitation and were served by one of six local social insurance offices of a Swedish county. RESULTS: Of the clients studied, 52.4% had attained full working capacity The proportion had decreased to 37.4% two years later. One factor that differed between those who resumed work and those who returned to sick leave was the duration of the previous sick-leave period. Those who returned to work had had shorter sick leave, had jobs to return to and had received job training as a vocational rehabilitation measure. CONCLUSIONS: The clients with the best chances of being in work two years after completed vocational rehabilitation were those with short sickness absence, who had been selected for job training as a vocational rehabilitation, were aged 16-29 years and were employed in industry.

    Med fokus på förändring, flexibilitet och personlig utveckling har det agila

    ledarskapet utvecklats och växt fram. En ledarskapsstil och arbetssätt som

    blir allt vanligare bland organisationer där många företag påstår sig på

    något sätt arbeta med agila metoder. Denna studie undersökte sambandet

    mellan medarbetares personlighet och attityd till olika ledarskapsstilar,

    med fokus på den agila. En webbaserad enkätundersökning gjordes med

    129 deltagare, 83 kvinnor, 45 män och en utan kön. Enkäten innehöll

    personlighetstestet Big Five Inventory samt tre vinjetter kring

    transformativt-, transaktionellt- och agilt ledarskap. Resultatet visade att

    deltagare med höga värden på extraversion och öppenhet och låga värden

    på neuroticism tenderade ha mer positiv attityd till den agila

    ledarskapsstilen. Män var mer positiv inställda till transaktionellt ledarskap

    än kvinnor. Avslutningsvis diskuteras generaliserbarheten i resultatet

    utifrån de tillgänglighetsurval som studien hade samt att de resultat som

    redovisas kan vara till hjälp för organisationer i exempelvis rekrytering

    och utveckling av ledarskapskompetenser.

    Syftet med denna undersökning var att ta reda på hur pedagoger och elever upplever

    elevinflytande i matematiken. Vi ville även undersöka om pedagogernas syn på

    elevinflytande stämde med det som står i styrdokumenten. En kvalitativ

    undersökning med intervjuer av två pedagoger och fyra elever samt observationer i

    pedagogernas klassrum genomfördes. Vårt resultat visade att elevinflytandet inte är

    stort inom matematiken men dock att pedagogerna och eleverna var nöjda med detta.

    Resultatet visade även att eleverna främst har inflytande över praktiska saker som

    exempelvis vilket material de använder. Gällande planeringen av

    matematikundervisningen visade resultatet att eleverna inte hade något inflytande i

    detta. Pedagogerna i denna undersökning ansåg att elevinflytande var något positivt

    men att de ansåg att det var för problematiskt inom matematiken för att kunna

    genomföra detta i praktiken. Detta gör att pedagogernas uppfattning gällande

    elevinflytande inte alltid stämde överens med styrdokumenten då pedagogerna ansåg

    att området var ett mål att sträva mot istället för ett genomgående arbetssätt

    Det här är ett examensarbete i informationsdesign med inriktning mot rumslig gestaltning. Syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att undersöka utvecklingsmöjligheterna för den rumsliga utformningen i X huvudentré, med målet om att rumsligt stärka informationslänken mellan företaget och besökare. Genom att skapa en förståelse för hur rummets gestaltning samspelar med människans upplevelse ges en större insikt i hur ett rum bör utformas för ett bestämt syfte, både för att kunna stödja en praktisk funktion och även en visuell upplevelse.

    Syftet med de undersökningar som utförts i examensarbetet har varit att få en uppfattning kring besökarnas upplevelse av den rumsliga utformningen i X huvudentré. Huruvida rummet som informationslänk fungerar mellan företag och besökare. Genom att använda mig av olika metoder såsom litteraturstudie, semistrukturerad intervju, observationer, notationer och enkäter kunde en bristande informativ länk konstateras. Med stöd av litteratur och olika forsknings- teorier har jag designat en modul där olika rumsliga element har inkluderats, för att på ett tydligare och mer integrerande sätt presentera företaget. Med modulens centrala placering skapas ett mer lättillgängligt informationsflöde i rummet. Modulens form och innehåll väcker besökarens intresse ”på vägen”. Det blir en central plats för information, där företaget genom sin moderna teknik kan förmedla nya projekt, sin visionsbild och på så sätt stärka sin image.

    Studien handlade om bröstcancerpatienters upplevelser av empati hos läkare i läkar-patientmötet.  Fokus låg på att undersöka i hur stor utsträckning läkarens empatiska förmåga bidrar till upplevelsen av god vård. Metoden var av kvalitativ ansats där semistrukturerade intervjuer utfördes med 12 bröstcancerdrabbade kvinnor. Resultatet gav kategorier tillhörande studiens tre frågeställningar. Frågeställningen om vad som utgör en empatisk läkare belystes av kategorierna (1) sätta sig in i den andres situation, (2) både känsla och handling, (3) kunskap, (4) informativ och (5) god lyssnare. Frågeställningen om icke-empatisk läkare belystes av kategorierna (1) dålig information, (2) opersonlig och (3) dålig förmåga att skapa god behandlingsallians. Frågeställningen om god vård belystes av (1) kontinuitet hos läkare, (2) bli sedd som individ och (3) mer tid hos läkare. I fall av brist på empati upplevde patienterna mindre grad av tillfredställande. God vård och empati är beroende av varandra, den ena kan inte existera utan den andre.

    Jag har genomfört en kvalitativ studie om elevens upplevelser och habitus i relation till att bli tilldelad ett åtgärdsprogram i år 9. Syftet är att ta reda på hur eleven och dess omgivning upplever det när eleven får ett åtgärdsprogram och vilka förväntningar både eleven och föräldrarna har. Genom öppna intervjuer har jag samlat in data från sex elever i en skola i Mellansverige. Min studie stöder sig mot Bourdieus teori om att individers värderingar och beteenden formas av sin närmaste omgivning. Resultatet visar att eleverna överlag blir motiverade att ta tag i sina studier för att nå ett godkänt betyg, förutsatt att de inte sedan tidigare har ett flertal åtgärdsprogram. I mina intervjuer framkommer det också att kompisgruppen känns som ett stöd där man kan ventilera sina tankar runt åtgärdsprogrammet samt att alla elever upplever att de har ett bra stöd hemifrån i sin strävan att nå godkända betyg.

    Bakgrund: Vård i livets slutskede sker på på vårdavdelningar, i hemmet, inom primärvården, på hospice eller via hemtjänsten. I sitt dagliga arbete kommer allmänsjuksköterskor möta patienter som vårdas i livets slutskede. Den palliativa vårdfilosofin syftar till att lindra patienters lidande. Sjuksköterskor har den ledande rollen i omvårdnadsansvar för patienter. Syfte: Beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter i livets slutskede. Metod: Kvalitativ ansats. Systematisk litteraturstudie med beskrivande syntes enligt Evans (2002). Resultat: Efter analysen framkom två teman och fem subteman. Tema 1) Otillräcklighet som inkluderar: Svårt att tillfredsställa behov och svårt att hålla personlig distans. Tema 2) Tillfredställelse som inkluderar: Meningsfullhet, stöd från teamet och förståelse. Slutsats: Sjuksköterskor erfar både positiva och negativa erfarenheter av att vårda patienter i livets slutskede. De positiva erfarenheterna framkommer när sjuksköterskor erfar sitt dagliga arbete som meningsfullt. De negativa erfarenheterna framkommer när sjuksköterskor erfar otillräcklighet. Relationen till patienter och dess anhöriga beskrivs som viktig för att höja vårdkvalitén. Relationen kan visa sig att medföra problem på sjuksköterskors personliga plan om de identifierar sig med vårdtagarna.

    Abstract [en]

    A new chromatographic method based on affinity supermacroporous monolithic cryogels is developed for binding and analyzing inclusion bodies during fermentation. The work demonstrated that it is possible to bind specific IgG and IgY antibodies to the 15 and 17 amino acids at the terminus ends of a 33kDa target protein aggregated as inclusion bodies. The antibody treated inclusion bodies from lysed fermentation broth can be specifically retained in protein A and pseudo-biospecific ligand sulfamethazine modified supermacroporous cryogels. The degree of binding of IgG and IgY treated inclusion bodies to the Protein A and sulfamethazine gels are investigated, as well as the influence of pH on the sulfamethazine ligand. Optimum binding of 78 and 72% was observed on both protein A and sulfamethazine modified cryogel columns, respectively, using IgG labeling of the inclusion bodies. The antibody treated inclusion bodies pass through unretained in the sulfamethazine supermacroporous gel at pH that does not favour the binding between the ligand on the gel and the antibodies on the surface of inclusion bodies. Also the unlabeled inclusion bodies went through the gel unretained, showing no non-specific binding or trapping within the gel. These findings may very well be the foundation for the building of a powerful analytical tool during fermentation of inclusion bodies as well as a convenient way to purify them from fermentation broth. These results also support our earlier findings [Kumar, A., Plieva, F.M., Galaev, I.Yu., Mattiasson, B., 2003. Affinity fractionation of lymphocytes using a monolithic cyogel. J. Immunol. Methods 283, 185-194] with mammalian cells that were surface labeled with specific antibodies and recognized on protein A supermacroporous gels. A general binding and separation system can be established on antibody binding cryogel affinity matrices.

    The overall purpose of this paper is to explore the prerequisites that support the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development. An exploratory multiple embedded case study has been conducted at a Swedish manufacturing company in the manufacturing industry. By studying four pilot plants’ organisational structure and way of working, this paper contributes with an increased understanding regarding how the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development can be supported. This paper describes how a technology roadmap, the usage of master processes and a supportive organisational structure can support the fuzzy front end of new manufacturing technology development.

    In today’s tough industrial environment, efficient development of new products and new manufacturing solutions is necessary to stay competitive on a global market. Manufacturing companies use substantial money and development resources to develop new products. However, the resources spent on finding and implementing emerging manufacturing technologies are much more limited. This is often the case even though it is well known that a way of competing on a global market is through the introduction of new manufacturing technologies that can improve product quality as well as contribute to reducing manufacturing time, resulting in reduced product price and in the end increased profit.

    When introducing new manufacturing technologies, different challenges arise such as lack of knowledge, involvement of an external equipment supplier, etc. In addition, time-to-volume is critical when introducing new manufacturing technologies in a manufacturing context. To be able to have a fast ramp-up, manufacturing technology needs to be mature enough and at the same time meet all requirements. Efficient introduction of new manufacturing technologies requires that pre-development activities have been performed in advance.

    Previous research in this area highlights a lack of knowledge and solutions regarding pre-development of new manufacturing technologies. Such pre-development is important in order to have a successful introduction, fast time-to-volume and production system development. Based on these challenges, the objective of the research presented in this thesis is to develop support for pre-development of new manufacturing technologies.

    The research is based on literature reviews and three empirical case studies, carried out over a two-year period of time. The first empirical case study was an exploratory case study in the manufacturing industry. The purpose of that research study was to identify critical factors forcing manufacturing companies to improve the development of manufacturing technologies.

    The second study was a longitudinal embedded case study in the manufacturing industry with the purpose of identifying factors that affect evaluation of new manufacturing technologies during new product development. Particular attention was given to the product development process and how it has affected the evaluation of new manufacturing technologies.

    Finally, the third study was a single case study in the manufacturing industry with the purpose of analysing and discussing the assessment of the maturity level of a manufacturing technology.

    It is well known that a way of competing on a global market is through the introduction of new manufacturing technologies in the production system that can improve product quality as well as contribute to reducing manufacturing time, reduced product price and in the end increased profits. Manufacturing companies that develop and introduce new manufacturing technologies can differentiate themselves from others and thus achieve increased competitiveness.

    The fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development is characterized by a high degree of technology uncertainty and challenges due to the lack of access to relevant knowledge, lack of a structured development process, and enough resources that are working with development of new manufacturing technologies.

    In the literature only a few empirical studies that explore the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development can be found. Prior research highlights that little is actually known about what should be done in the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development projects, and thus more research is needed. Supporting the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development is important to facilitate a successful introduction of new manufacturing technologies, fast time-to-volume and long-term production system development.

    Based on the above-mentioned importance of developing new manufacturing technology, the objective of the research presented in this thesis is to explore the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development. In order to fulfil the objective, empirical data were collected from five case studies conducted in the manufacturing industry. During the empirical studies four important parts were studied: organising, knowledge development, collaboration and the development process.

    The main findings revealed that development of new manufacturing technology is often conducted in collaboration with external partners and many ad hoc decisions are taken due to lack of a predefined development process for the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development. In addition, in the fuzzy front end access to relevant manufacturing knowledge is important and knowledge needs to be developed in order to reduce technology uncertainty.

    In order to support the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development projects, a supporting framework has been developed. The proposed framework is an elaboration of results from the research questions addressed and can be used as a guideline to overcome the challenges observed in the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development projects. The framework is built on two important dimensions for innovations, degree of technology uncertainty and degree of novelty. The critical factors identified in the analysis are embedded in the proposed framework as central parts in the fuzzy front end of manufacturing technology development.

    The purpose of this paper is to identify factors that affect evaluation of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) during new product development (NPD). Particular attention is given to the new product development process and how it has affected the acquisition and evaluation process of AMT. An embedded case study has been conducted at a large Swedish manufacturing company, consisting of semi structured interviews, document analysis, and passive observations. This paper identifies seven factors that affect the evaluation of AMT during NPD and which can be classified into three categories: NPD project, AMT acquisition project and the internal organization.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this paper is to identify critical factors forcing manufacturing companies to improve the development of production technology in a machining environment. The focus in the paper is on industrial challenges within product design and production system development when introducing new products in a machining environment. Particular attention is given to the product development process and the production equipment acquisition process. A single case study is presented, consisting of interviews, observations, document studies and an analysis of a large Swedish manufacturing company. The case study company is characterized by advanced production technology, high mechanization and high automation level. In parallel with the case study a literature review was conducted in order to identify state-of-the-art methods/models for efficient design and product introduction within a production system. The paper identifies a gap in the current way of working within the case company as well as challenges regarding the development of production technology. Based on the study, the need for future research has been identified including the need of developing an improved working support for efficient production technology development when industrializing new products.
