    Abstract [en]

The following report is the result of a thesis that has been performed at a c-level on the bachelor program at Mälardalens University. The work is directed towards Exma Säkerhetssystem AB who seeks a solution to a problem of an existing product. The company designs and constructs different kinds of locks and safety systems. The product Exma Säkerhetssystem AB is seeking improvement for is a box which connects two cables, one from an automatic door and one from a circuit card. The task consists of designing a box where a cable can be attached and can handle a traction force of 40kg. The box shall not exceed the dimensions: 30mm high and 40 mm wide. The length should be as short as possible but there is no exact maximum measurements available. The box should have an IP-class 20. The box should be as easy as possible to mount in order to simplify for the person who will mount the product. In most cases the box will be mounted on an aluminum door. The product is developed by working on a methodology based on product development as well as using relevant product developing tools. Completed product proposals are delivered to Exma säkerhetssystem AB in the form of CAD-models and drawings. The result of the project consists of a case that meets all of the requirements that Exma Säkerhetssystem AB requested.
