    Abstract [en]

    Negative spillover from work to family and vice versa often occurs when forinstance behaviour, mood, stress and feelings from one domain negatively affectthe other domain. This qualitative thesis investigated teachers perceptions ofnegative spillover from work to family and vice versa. The respondents were 16teachers in primary and secondary school which wrote a diary about negativespillover. The types of negative spillover that occured most frequently were 1)high workload, 2) disturbing thoughts or feelings, 3) fatigue, 4) problems withother human beings and 5) problems with machines. The results showed that therespondents reported more negative spillover from work to family, than fromfamily to work. Most of the respondents worked a lot and the time of trust werenot enough. The respondents who declined participation in the study did thisbecause of an overload in their work situation.

    Abstract [sv]

    Effektiva copingstrategier kan öka arbetstillfredsställelse, minska spänningar, sänka personalomsättning och frånvaro samt leda till andra positiva utfall för både individer och arbetsgivare (Parks, 1990). Syftet med denna uppsats var att få en djupare förståelse av hur småföretagare upplever problem med anställda samt att undersöka vilka copingstrategier som används för att hantera olika typer av problem. Frågeställningarna var, vilka problem hanteras med emotionsfokuserade copingstrategier? och vilka problem hanteras med problemfokuserade copingstrategier? Respondenterna i undersökningen var nio småföretagare samtliga var män i åldrarna 39-71 år. Totalt identifierades 27 problem som delades in i sex olika kategorier. Samtliga strategier för att hantera dessa problem var problemfokuserad coping. Några av respondenterna använde sig även av emotionsfokuserad coping vilket handlade mer om inställningar till problem. I denna undersökning har erfarenhet framkommit som en viktig faktor för hur man som ledare lyckats hantera problem med anställda i ett litet företag.
