Abstract [en]

ABSTRACT 

This report contains the results of a study completed at Volvo Aero Corporation in Trollhättan during the autumn 2011.

The focus of this study was to identify how the technical ordering in the department of Engine Services & Engine Assembly is working with Lean Production, which is a method of business development.

By working closely with a range of people within the department, it has been possible to complete interviews, meetings, surveys, etc. this has led to that the problem formulation of the thesis have been processed in detail. Three issues have been addressed in this work. The questions are:

  1. How to work with Lean in a technology department and how does this work?

  2. How to connect the technology department's planning boards with the master board, which

    is a comprehensive planning board, in an efficient way?

  3. Can the technology department contribute to a further improvement in Engine Services &

    Engine Assembly?

The results of the study can be found in Chapter 5 of this report. This result plays an important role in Engine Services & Engine Assembly, as the introduction of Lean Production implies continuous improvement for the company.

The final part of the report consists of a conclusion and a discussion. The conclusion that has been made is hoping that Engine Services & Engine Assembly continues with the work in future, as the company places great emphasis on improvement work.
