To Stabilize Life : A qualitative study about substitution treatment (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The discussion on whether individuals in substitution treatment is drug free or not awoke the interest to conduct the following study. It is a highly relevant issue in social work as it is a method that has become increasingly talked about in the treatment of drug abuse. The authors wanted to explore how professionals working in the field stood on this issue and how they can see that this method is effective or not. By looking to the effect of treatment for the individuals and its environment could show some clarity on this issue. To investigate this, a qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews was performed. In this study, nurses and drug therapists as well as an area manager. The result indicated that the treatment is beneficial to individuals when everything that could lead to a safe and stable lives is of great importance for these individuals. The treatment affected individuals all the different areas of life. Disadvantages exist but the study was to demonstrate that considering the positive effects was of major importance.
