Underhållsdokumentationen som arkiveras av underhållsorganisationer är kopior på originaldokument som kunder/operatörer måste spara. Eftersom arkiveringstiden ofta sträcker sig längre än kravet som är 3 år, medför detta att arkivet tar stor fysisk plats. Tillsammans med tidskrävande handläggning kan detta leda till förseningar för dokumentationen att nå arkivet. Detta medför att handläggare eller andra som vill få tillgång till dokumentationen inte ges den möjligheten. Genom att se till att dokumentationen sparas digitalt efter utförd release kommer dokumentationens tillgänglighet att öka, eftersom fler kommer att kunna granska dokumentationen.Genom att undersöka vad som krävs för att skanna in och OCR-konvertera dokumentationen kunde ett enkelt förslag redovisas. Rapporten kan därefter användas som underlag för att ta ett beslut om en övergång till ett digitalt arkiveringssystem.
Maintenance documentation that is archived by maintenance organizations are copies of the original documents that customers/operators have to keep. Since the documentation often is saved for longer periods than the required 3 years, results in massive use of storage space. This together with time-consuming processing leads to delays in the archiving process. These delays can lead to employees and/or customers not getting access to the documentation. If the documentation was archived digitally after release it would enable access for authorized personnel and thereby increase the availability of the documents.By studying the requirements for scanning documents and performing OCR-conversion a simple solution was proposed. The report can be used to support a decision if a transition to a digital archive should be made.
