Continuity and change in present-day spoken Swedish. Eskilstuna revisited: Informants, material and register of recordings. This report contains a description of the sociolinguistic corpus of spoken Swedish in the central Swedish town of Eskilstuna in 1995–96. The project is designed in such a way as to make possible a direct comparison with the older corpus of Eskilstuna speech collected in 1967–68. Besides a complete register of each of the 91 recordings containing personal and social data of the informants and pertinent information on the recording situation, the following topics are treated: principles of selecting and categorizing informants as to socioeconomic status, age, education and social integration in the community. Technical, stylistic and contextual data on the recordings and the recording situation are given together with an overall evaluation of the suitability of the corpus for the aim of the project.
