Silvia Gherardi, a prominent figure in Management and Organization Studies (MOS), has been a key feminist scholar exploring gender dynamics in workplaces. Her contribution is characterized by a tireless curiosity and desire to go beyond established approaches and perspectives. In her early work, Gherardi introduced metaphors like the ‘sexual contract' and the ‘alchemical wedding' to show how gendered processes and practices are situated and embodied in organizations and how different symbolic gender orders can be identified. She also significantly contributed to gender studies in entrepreneurship and male-dominated organizations. In her most recent work, she has developed a posthumanist epistemology, advocating for a practice-based approach beyond human exceptionalism and methodological representationalism. Her postqualitative inquiry aligns with feminist new materialism, emphasizing situatedness, agencement, and formativeness. Gherardi's work promotes an understanding of organizing that involves humans, nonhumans, and more-than-humans, challenging traditional research paradigms in MOS.
