Abstract [sv]

Syftet med studien är att belysa utmaningar som nyanlända står inför inkludering på arbetsmarknaden utifrån både vägledare och arbetssökandes perspektiv och erfarenheter i Jobbcentrum. Undersökningen baseras på kvalitativa intervjuer med åtta nyanlända immigranter och två vägledare på Jobbcentrum i en mellanstor kommun i Sörmland. Resultaten av studien presenteras genom sex teman: språkbarriärer, brist på yrkeserfarenhet, svårigheter att få utländska kvalifikationer erkända, diskriminering, bostadssegregation, och socialt kapital. Studiens tyder på att brist på socialt kapital samt diskriminering är två allvarliga hinder som ökar risken för utanförskap bland nyanlända i arbetsmarknaden. Resultaten tyder på att nyanländas självbild påverkas stark av deras erfarenheter och svårigheter på arbetsmarknaden.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study is to shed light on the challenges faced by new arrivals in the labor market from the perspectives and experiences of both counselors and job seekers at the Job Center. The research is based on qualitative interviews with eight newly arrived immigrants and two counselors at the Job Center in a medium-sized municipality in Sörmland. The study's findings are presented through six themes: language barriers, lack of professional experience, difficulties in having foreign qualifications recognized, discrimination, housing segregation, and social capital. The study suggests that social capital and discrimination emphasize obstacles that increase the risk of vulnerability and discrimination. Results indicate that the self-image of new arrivals is strongly influenced by their experiences and challenges in the labor market.
