Purpose: The purpose is to investigate how several builders operating in the same area affects each other's work regarding logistics. Method: The methods used consist of literature- and case study. The case study deals with logistics problems with a focus on the production phase for JM AB's workplace area in the Kajstaden area in Västerås. Interviews were conducted to obtain information about the work processes for Kajstaden and four different interviews took place with JM and Mälarstrandens Utvecklings AB. The occupational groups for the interview were three supervisors from JM and one project manager from Mälarstrandens Utvecklings AB. Results: The results have shown and found shortcomings when several builders have collaborated on narrow workspaces next to each other. The degree of difficulty of the logistics process has intensified when construction in the area has been completed and residents have moved in at the same time as the production of the remaining projects has been started across the street. Overlapping of construction traffic between various construction operators but also private traffic requires careful planning to prevent queues. Through Mälarstranden AB's role as formal coordinator, a functional logistics process was obtained, however it has not worked flawlessly. One of the major obstacles is that the builders have had very free hands on their own construction sites. This creates chaos when there is a lack of regular dialogue between the parties. Conclusions: Many of the problems that arose during the densification of Kajstaden could have been avoided through better logistics planning. Communication and cooperation are two aspects for a successful logistics planning for Kajstaden. Much of this could be solved by establishing a joint construction logistics center that would be responsible for the entire Kajstaden's logistics issues.
