This thesis will examine how emotional illustrations are perceived in different levels of abstraction. In contexts where image is used to clarify the understanding of different emotions, it is important to understand the difficulties with its design. Robinson writes in the article The British Journal of Aesthetics that you can start from 3 different Expression Looks (2017, 1) when working with the design of different emotions, and this is something that forms the basis for image creation in the work. 5 motifs have been created in 3 different levels of abstraction, in order to investigate how reducing details affects the emotional expression. You can apply the work in different contexts where you want to clarify the understanding of different emotional stages through pictures.
As a designer I had to make my own design decisions, when producing images with different emotional expressions, based on certain theories. The study is based on suitable methods for the work and can be used as a basis for other work in the area.
