Adolescents alcohol consumption and exposure to violence are a common societal problem in the world. Health promotion should focus more on this issue as young people who consume alcohol is at risk to develope alcohol abuse. Being exposed to violence at an early age is also associated with a number of consequences for health.The purpose of this study is to investigate young people’s alcohol habits and the extent to which they are exposed to domestic violence and whether there is a connection between young people’s alcohol habits and the occurence of domestic violence. This study is based on a quantitive approach with data collected from Life and Health of the adolescent survey 2012. The selection consist students in ninth grade and second year of High School with at some point study popluation of 4 466 young people. The results show;the majority of young people consume alcohol at an early age and 96 percent has a some point been exposed to domestic violence. Spearman´s rank correlation showed that there were very weak positive connection between young people´s alcohol consumption and domestic violence, where young people who were exposed to domestic violence consumed alcohol to a somewhat greater extent. This indicates that this problem needs to be worked on further in order to break these negative behaviors and continue to work with health promoting initiatives. Locus of control and Coping is used to understand the connection between adolescents alcohol consumption and domestic violence.
