Det finns många faktorer som bidrar till hälsa varav utbildning och arbete är två bestämningsfaktorer för hälsa. Arbete bidrar till sociala relationer, personlig utveckling, betydelse för individens ekonomiska resurser, struktur i vardagen och delaktighet i samhället vilket påverkar hälsan positivt. Lika så är utbildning en bestämningsfaktor för hälsa. Utbildning leder till att lättare få ett arbete. Unga vuxna boende i socioekonomiskt utsatt område är en grupp som riskerar att hamna utanför arbetsmarknaden. En åtgärd för unga arbetslösa i socioekonomiskt utsatt område är Ungdomspoolen VOX. Verksamhetens mål är att öka anställningsbarheten hos ungdomar 16–25 år i Varberga/ Oxhagen [VOX] området.  

Studiens syfte är att beskriva hur ungdomar i ett socioekonomiskt område uppfattar Ungdomspoolen VOX:s arbete med att skapa förutsättningar till utbildning och arbete. Studiens teoretiska perspektiv utgörs av empowerment och hälsans bestämningsfaktorer. Kvalitativ metod valdes med ett målstyrt urval som utgjordes av sex ungdomar aktiva i verksamheten. Dataanalysen utgjordes av manifest innehållsanalys. Resultatet utgörs två huvudkategorier kategorier; ”Praktiska aktiviteter” och ” Insatsens kännedom om områdesrelaterade behov” och visar att Ungdomspoolen skapar praktiska förutsättningar till utbildning och arbete samt att verksamhetens områdesnära relationer samt motivationshöjande bemötande också skapar förutsättningar till utbildning och arbete. Informanterna menar dock att ungdomens enskilda vilja för möjligheter behövs för att verksamheten ska möjliggöra förutsättningar till utbildning och arbete. 

There are many factors that contribute to health of wich education and work are two determinants for health. Work conspires social relationships, personal development, financial resources, structur in life and participation in society, factors that positively affect health. Likewise, education is a determining factor for health. Education makes it easier to get a job. Young adults living in socioeconomic exposed areas is a group that risks ending up outside the labor market. Third sector actors affect Swedish society as the sector promotes workinclusion for exposedness groups. An organized measure for young people in socioeconomic exposed areas is the Youthpool. The aim of the activity is to increase the employability of young people aged 16–25 in the Varberga/Oxhagen [VOX] area. Work takes place in collaboration between the municipality and third sector. 

The aim of the study is to describe how young people in a socioeconomic exposed area perceive the Youthpool VOX: s work to create conditions for education and work. . Empowerment and determinants of health is used as the studys theoretical perspective. Qualitative study design is used, and the work of analysis consist of manifest contentanalysis. The work of the analysis resulted in two main categories: “Practical activities” and “The iniatives knowledge of area-related needs”. 

The results show that the Youthpool creates practical conditions for education and work and that the arearelated activities as motivation treatment also creates condition for education and work. However, the informants believe that the young people’s individual will for opportunities is needed for the activity to enable conditions for education and work.
