Abstract [en]

Research question: What are the differences in perceptions and attitudes amongst employees with other ethnic backgrounds, to discrimination in working life, between service and production/logistic companies?

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of attitudes and experiences of discrimination in working life in organizations.

Method: A qualitative research methodology through ten semi-structured interviews with respondents at two different companies, as well as a thematic content analysis and a systematic literature review (SLR).

Conclusion: The companies have always contributed to awareness of discrimination among employees but must make it much clearer. Social interactions increase the risk of discrimination as employees at service companies have had greater experience of discrimination in the workplace, compared with employees at production- and logistics companies. However, all respondents have experienced discrimination in the recruitment process. Leadership is emphasizing when it comes to the perception of discrimination as managers and managements have an influential role in this.
