This paper is about how original ideas from the company’s founders – entrepreneurs (actors) are materialized as structure through routines and artifacts, and by that create broad and long-lived performativity. More specific, it is about how financial entrepreneurs’ (through generations family Wallenberg) ideas about activity (closeness, incremental action), trustworthiness (“People make it happen” – the family metaphor, communication and performance), and approaches to time (long term, incremental) are mediated through imprinted artifacts (The Atlas Copco Book, also referred to as The Strategy Book). We study the chosen company through the prism of the framework of organizational imprinting. More specific, we analyze the organizational origins as imprinted into organizational structure as artifacts in routines, where we referrer to routines as abstract representations of recurrent actions patterns and artifacts as physical materialization of certain organizational structure, symbols, icons or human ideas.
