Abstract [en]

Traditionally, Organization Theory has built on the assumption of a linear development of the organization - first, there is a vision, then an organization. Recent research has shown that organizations do not follow this rational model. In this paper, I explore “mCity”, an organization intented as a temporary project, but today made into a permanent part of the strategic ICT-work of the City of Stockholm. “mCity” provides an interesting case of an organization where multiple visions coexist, and in trying to understand how this is possible, I present the idea of the “empty space”, created in between the different visions, evolving around the least common denominator – the name “mCity”. In doing this, I draw on ideas on sense-making and dialogue.
