Laboratory Material – Does it Have an Impact on the Teaching? : A Qualitative Study About the Impact of Material Availability on Science Education in Grades 1-3. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study is to investigate if there is a connection between teachers’ access to laboratory material and their teaching in the sciences. The investigation was carried out through qualitative interviews with active qualified teachers in grades 1-3. The collected data was sorted and analysed under the two categories access to laboratory material and teaching. The results show that laboratory material is likely to be used and also that the teaching needs to be well planned so that theory and practice are intertwined. The main conclusion is that the teacher plays a key role in the education and that his or her attitudes and abilities are crucial for the quality of the education.
