Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study aims to describe what impact an economic education has on students' financial behavior and whether it appears in their personal finances. The authors have chosen to compare students from the first year with those who study the last year in the economics program at Mälardalen University in Västerås and Eskilstuna. This comparison is done to give the reader a deeper picture of how financial education affects the saving and investment propensity over time, as the students gain more knowledge in economics during their studies.

Based on the statistical hypothesis tests that have been tested, it can be deduced that certain factors in student financial behavior change during the course of the education, while other factors have no significant impact.
