Since there is high competition within manufacturing industries there is important to identify and reduce waste within the production. To be able to be a leading company in the area it is important to implement different lean tools and constantly work with improvements. The implementation is not the hardest part it is what comes after e.g. maintaining it.
The goal of this thesis is to identify time driving elements and waste, that occur within a production site, and give suggestions of improvements. From the literature study and case study the following questions have been answered:
The students have mainly used observations and interview to complete the case study. The students also conducted a regression analysis to find the connection between production time and time-driving elements. The result from the literature study shows that companies want to achieve better results when implementing different lean techniques. What differs literature is the methods for getting the best results. Some points out that 5S is easy to implement while others say against that and states it is not as easy as one may think. The case study shows the lack of lean and what waste and time driving elements that where identified.
