Research question: ​Is different leadership styles associated with different levels of employee engagement and does the degree of engagement differ for generations?

Purpose: ​The purpose of this study is to provide information about managing employees with new generations enter the workplace, in order to improve engagement. This thesis will contribute to the academic world about the relationship between employee engagement and leadership when it comes to looking at it from a generation perspective with a focus on the changing landscape of leadership and which leadership style that is preferred.

Method: ​This research was carried out by using both primary and secondary data in order to fulfill the purpose of the thesis. ​The research approach is a quantitative study in which a survey was conducted where Netigate's digital survey tool was used and then sent to employees working within the case company. The collected data has been analyzed by the authors and used as the basis for the conclusion of the study.

Conclusion:​ The empirical results show that the relationship between transformational leadership and employee engagement is significantly higher. This states that different leadership styles are associated with different levels of employee engagement and it is also proven that the engagement differs for generations.
