Tutor: Kerstin Nilsson

Keywords: Diversity, recruitment and organization

Research questions: 1. How can recruiters in private and public organizations contribute to diversity through their recruitment process?

2. What similarities and differences are there in the private and public sectors in terms of diversity in the work of recruitment?

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine how recruiters in the private and public organizations contribute to diversity through their recruitment process. This is to see if there are any similarities or differences in the private and public sector regarding diversity in recruiting staff.

Method: In this study, a qualitative research method was used and the empirical material was collected through ten semi-structured interviews. The interview questions were based on scientific theories and concepts. The empirical material was analysed by using a selected theoretical framework in order to answer the question of the study.

Conclusion: Private organisations contribute to diversity by hiring as cultural matching. While public organisations contribute to diversity by including everyone regardless of their cultural background and using multiple recruitment channels and competency-based recruitment.
