Abstract [en]

The workplace is a central arena in a public health perspective and an environment where adults spend a large portion of their time. To work towards it, is therefore essential to promote health within a workplace. In working life health promotion work can be applied by taking in factors within the demand-control-support-model. The model describes within the study how individuals experience factors such as demand, control and social support within the work- and private life. The study applies the concepts in combinations with each other and in connection with the change from work in offices, to work placed at home.

The aim of the study is to examine how employees in a municipality experience changes in their working conditions during the covid-19 pandemic. This thesis is a qualitative study that includes a targeted sample with six semi-structured interviews with employees at a municipality outside Stockholm. The questions in the interview were formulated according to the factors of demand, control and social support.

The results show shortly that working from home has meant that the work can be planned more freely during the days of the week. The participants perceived/experienced support from their employer and families during the transition however some expressed that they lacked social affinity from their colleagues. The respondents express different strategies to balance private life and work, their strategies depending on pre-conditions.
